They gratefully acknowledge the cooperation in this work of the citizens generally, and their cheerful assistance in collecting materials, furnishing information, and fixing dates. The committee have also availed themselves of the town books, grave yard inscriptions, records in family Bibles, ancient newspaper and manuscript journals; wherever they have resorted to published works, they have given credit, accordingly, in the proper place.
