Lo femenino contiene el misterio de la creación. Esta verdad simple y primordial a menudo pasa desapercibida. Sin embargo, en estos tiempos de crisis global, que a su vez portan las semillas de una transformación global, es necesario que redespertemos al poder espiritual y al potencial de lo femenino. Las cualidades femeninas forman parte tanto del hombre como de la mujer y nos empujan hacia las profundidades de nuestro ser, hasta los misterios del alma, cuya sabiduría se denomina Sofía. Sin lo femenino nada nuevo puede nacer, nada nuevo puede llegar a la existencia; quedaríamos atrapados en las imágenes materialistas de la vida que están contaminando nuestro planeta y profanando nuestras almas. Tenemos que volver al centro de nuestro ser, al lugar donde lo sagrado se manifiesta en la existencia. Y la feminidad mística contiene la clave para poder llevar a cabo esta labor de redención y de transformación. The idea of dedicating a Festschrift to honor Professor Frédéric Manns on the happy occasion of his 70th birthday came to mind in the autumn of 2011 and work on this project had been continuing ever since. Felicitously achieving this goal, the Faculty of Biblical Sciences and Archaeology (Studium Biblicum Franciscanum) and the Franciscan Custody of the Holy Land present this volume to Father Manns with gratitude for his profound scholarship and a lifetime service in the Holy Land. Perusing through Father Manns’ writings, it is easy to see a prominent and distinctive place devoted to the Gospel of John. It seemed therefore suitable to focus on this subject in the Festschrift honoring him: the title, Rediscovering John, relates to Manns’ significant contribution towards the better understanding of the Fourth Gospel. The volume comprises 21 studies authored by renowned scholars from various parts of the world, from different institutions and denominations. While the first half of the studies examines general issues (history of interpretation, textual transmission, intertextuality, theological themes, archaeology), the second half treats literary, narrative and exegetical approaches to particular texts of the Fourth Gospel. We augur that this rich collection will help to stimulate further discussion and reflection on the Gospel of John, as well as constitute an incentive to an already distinguished scholar to continue writing challenging and thought-provoking essays and books. This book presents the first English introduction to the broad history of the Gothic mode in Spain. It focuses on key literary periods, such as Romanticism, the fin-de-siècle, spiritualist writings of the early-twentieth century, and the cinematic and literary booms of the 1970s and 2000s. With illustrative case studies, Aldana Reyes demonstrates how the Gothic mode has been a permanent yet ever-shifting fixture of the literary and cinematic landscape of Spain since the late-eighteenth century. He proposes that writers and filmmakers alike welcomed the Gothic as a liberating and transgressive artistic language.

As one of the first countries to implement a neoliberal state apparatus, Mexico serves as a prime example of the effects of neoliberal structural economic reform on our sensibility. Irgmard Emmelhainz argues that, in addition to functioning as a form of politico-economic organization, neoliberalism creates particular ways of seeing and inhabiting the world. La tercera edad de oro de la ficción televisiva ha favorecido la proliferación de series de gran despliegue técnico y a la vez de narrativas que describen la intimidad y la rutina cotidiana de los protagonistas. Son obras que nos presentan personajes alejados de la heroicidad, representados a menudo dentro del espacio doméstico, que ha pasado a ser un lugar clave para la descripción y evolución de los personajes. Partiendo de la premisa que la ficción televisiva desarrolla una clara función de referencia y legitimación social, creando estereotipos y modelos en los que los espectadores se identifican, este libro analiza veinte de las series contemporáneas más populares, reflexionando sobre el rol paternal y maternal de sus protagonistas.
