The Twitter Presidency explores the rhetorical style of President Donald J. Trump, attending to both his general manner of speaking as well as to his preferred modality. Trump’s manner, the authors argue, reflects an aesthetics of white rage, and it is rooted in authoritarianism, narcissism, and demagoguery. His preferred modality of speaking, namely through Twitter, effectively channels and transmits the affective dimensions of white rage by taking advantage of the platform’s defining characteristics, which include simplicity, impulsivity, and incivility. There is, then, a structural homology between Trump’s general communication practices and the specific platform (Twitter) he uses to communicate with his base. This commonality between communication practices and communication platform (manner and modality) struck a powerful emotive chord with his followers, who feel aggrieved at the decentering of white masculinity. In addition to charting the defining characteristics of Trump’s discourse, The Twitter Presidency exposes how Trump’s rhetorical style threatens democratic norms, principles, and institutions.

This book takes a social science approach to address two related questions: (1) what does Donald Trump say on Twitter? and (2) why? Since entering the 2016 Presidential Election, Donald Trump’s tweets have been a major part of his communications strategy with the public. While the popular media has devoted considerable attention to selected tweets, it is less clear what those selected tweets tell us about Trump the businessman, the political candidate, and, finally, the President of the United States. We argue that to fully understand Trump, we must take a more comprehensive approach to examining all of his activities on Twitter. Overall, our analysis presents a strikingly complex picture of Trump and how he uses Twitter. Not only has his pattern of tweets changed over time, we find that Trump’s use of Twitter is more deliberate than he has been given credit. Like most other politicians, Trump is strategically-minded about his presence on social media.

The transition from President Donald J. Trump to President Joseph R. Biden Jr. stands as one of the most dangerous periods in American history. But as #1 internationally bestselling author Bob Woodward and acclaimed reporter Robert Costa reveal for the first time, it was far more than just a domestic political crisis. Woodward and Costa interviewed more than 200 people at the center of the turmoil, resulting in more than 6,000 pages of transcripts—and a spellbinding and definitive portrait of a nation on the brink. This classic study of Washington takes readers deep inside the Trump White House, the Biden White House, the 2020 campaign, and the Pentagon and Congress, with eyewitness accounts of what really happened. Intimate scenes are supplemented with never-before-seen material from secret orders, transcripts of confidential calls, diaries, emails, meeting notes and other personal and government records, making Peril an unparalleled history. It is also the first inside look at Biden’s presidency as he began his presidency facing the challenges of a lifetime: the continuing deadly pandemic and millions of Americans facing soul-crushing economic pain, all the while navigating a bitter and disabling partisan divide, a world rife with threats, and the hovering, dark shadow of the former president.

Donald Trump is one of the most controversial politicians of our time. On the one hand, this refers to his policies, but on the other hand, it also refers to his political style: Trump himself explicitly sees himself as a Twitter president. But what exactly is that supposed to be? What role does Twitter play in "official" communication, for example, in relation to classic media? Communications expert Klaus Kamps addresses these questions in this popular science essay.

INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER After a decade abroad, the National Book Award– and Pulitzer Prize–winning writer Evan Osnos returns to three places he has lived in the United States—Greenwich, CT; Clarksburg, WV; and Chicago, IL—to illuminate the origins of America’s political fury. Evan Osnos moved to Washington, D.C., in 2013 after a decade away from the United States, first reporting from the Middle East before becoming the Beijing bureau chief at the Chicago Tribune and then the China correspondent for The New Yorker. While abroad, he often found himself making a case for America, urging the citizens of Egypt, Iraq, or China to trust that even though America had made grave mistakes throughout its history, it aspired to some foundational moral commitments: the rule of law, the power of truth, the right of equal opportunity for all. But when he returned to the United States, he found each of these principles under assault. In search of an explanation for the crisis that reached an unsettling crescendo in 2020—a year of pandemic, civil unrest, and political turmoil—he focused on three places he knew firsthand: Greenwich, Connecticut; Clarksburg, West Virginia; and Chicago, Illinois. Reported over the course of six years, Wildland follows ordinary individuals as they navigate the varied landscapes of twenty-first-century America. Through their powerful, often poignant stories, Osnos traces the sources of America’s political dissolution. He finds answers in the rightward shift of the financial elite in Greenwich, in the collapse of social infrastructure and possibility in Clarksburg, and in the compounded effects of segregation and violence in Chicago. The truth about the state of the nation may be found not in the slogans of political leaders but in the intricate details of individual lives, and in the hidden connections between them. As Wildland weaves in and out of these personal stories, events in Washington occasionally intrude, like flames licking up on the horizon. A dramatic, prescient examination of seismic changes in American politics and culture, Wildland is the story of a crucible, a period bounded by two shocks to America’s psyche, two assaults on the country’s sense of itself: the attacks of September 11 in 2001 and the storming of the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021. Following the lives of everyday Americans in three cities and across two decades, Osnos illuminates the country in a startling light, revealing how we lost the moral confidence to see ourselves as larger than the sum of our parts.

IntroductionDonald J. Trump is the king of Twitter. He is without a doubt the biggest, most significant and the most prolific individual user of Twitter ever. With an average of over 4000 tweets each year, no other individual comes close.Whether you are pro Trump, anti-Trump or a Trump neutral the undeniable fact is that Donald Trump is a very significant and consequential figure of this time and history. And that he will be watched, studied, analyzed and dissected in the years, decades and centuries to come. I count us only very lucky to have him use Twitter as profusely as he does to pour out his heart and soul. Therefore, more than any books Trump has written or that has been written about Trump, it is only in his direct tweets that we really have a pure insight into the mind, soul and character of the real Donald J. Trump, in his own words "the honest and unfiltered" President Trump. No history of President Trump's administration or President Trump the man is complete without a chronicle of his generous tweets. All of his highs, his lows, controversies, policy fights, personal fights, verbal attacks, ideas, wins, losses, name-callings, tantrums, rants, likes and dislikes during his action-packed presidency all played out on twitter and captured in this compilation ... a very intense read. It is a complete day-by-day; month-by-month compilation of Donald J. Trump's every tweet as President of the USA encapsulated into one easily perusable reference unit.About the bookSuch interest in the tweets of President Trump has led many to try to search backwards for his earlier tweets only to find out that there are limits to how far one can go with regular Twitter searches. So I have embarked on this, a complete compilation of Donald Trump's tweets starting from the beginning of his Presidency to the present day, to conclude at his exit. Due to the large number of his tweets the book comes in volumes of a year's tweet per volume beginning from January 1, 2017. Volume 1: Jan 2017 - Dec 2017(456 pages), Volume 2: Jan 2018 - Dec 2018 and Volume 3: Jan 2019 - Dec 2019. To be continued yearly till the day he leaves office.Welcome to TRUMP by TRUMP: The presidential Tweets of Donald J. Trump
