Every day like this brings its own reward of trouble, and some time you'll be sorry you didn't get over your crossness just when it began, and that you went to see Alphonse, who didn't need your visit, and, I daresay, wished you hadn't come. And you knew all the time you were in the wrong to go." The children felt real sorry that night, and talked it all out with Mamma Brownlee. The rest of the week passed so peacefully that they had quickly forgot their unpleasant day with the Kobolds. But the Kobolds themselves didn't forget; neither did Mamma Brownlee.
