In 2014 an ongoing series of large earthquakes has rocked California, as well as the nerves of the Parsons family, who flee to their aunt's house in Texas for safety. Getting through the mayhem and buckling roads, they find themselves in an overnight shelter. The next morning, California suffers an 11.5, causing a major land shift in California, which sets off a domino of events throughout the world. The quake causes a mega-tsunami to cross the Pacific, wreaking havoc on the Asian coastline. As the world is busy trying to respond, Iran seizes the disasters opportunity to launch their assault on the American and Israeli interests. This sets off a nuclear conflict and the domino of Armageddon is underway. What will the Parsons do to try and survive the impending doom that faces them as the nuclear winter and Chinese bio toxins from their destroyed research facility spread around the world? They do survive, into a world that God has decided to recreate into a post-apocalyptic world. The chosen survivors are delighted to see what God does to fix things, but there's a few problems. The survivors have brought with them their baggage from their former lives. How will they (and God) resolve their personality issues? Could they be taught to live together in harmony? And how can they and God undo the world that was? The futuristic ending presents a twist on what conventional theories postulate on the future of the planet. One cannot help but wonder how things might be like, both at the time of the end, and after. Many years ago, my wife and I lost our five year old daughter, due to a congenital heart problem. In that time of grief, as a person of faith, I wrote a story about God's promise of our seeing her again, intending to use it to help me to focus on what was ahead. Yet, the more I looked at it, the more I realized the story was not complete. For over twenty years since then the story had been growing inside of me, begging to come out. It finally has.

This book examines why there is a lack of humanity in current architecture that produces such ghastly environmental errors. It brings together a selective study of past historical styles and works of art since primitive times in order to understand how the evolution of design was broken in the 20th century. Current ideologies and philosophies of the day are examined to ascertain those elements which fuelled a modern architecture that is lacking in humanity and agreeable contextual co-existence with our inherited communities. It shows that the complex effervescence of evolutionary life with its joy, communal celebratory nature, and constructive creative urges, is vulnerable from attack by these stronger alien forces of elimination and reductionism because their actions are by nature aggressive and dictatorially dominant. This book will appeal to all those academics and professional stakeholders who care for the environment and wish to see more positive changes.

In her new book, award-winning journalist Marci McDonald draws back the curtain on the mysterious world of the right-wing Christian nationalist movement in Canada and its many ties to the Conservative government of Stephen Harper. To most Canadians, the politics of the United States — where fundamentalist Christians wield tremendous power and culture wars split the country — seem too foreign to ever happen here. But The Armageddon Factor shows that the Canadian Christian right — infuriated by the legalization of same-sex marriage and the increasing secularization of society — has been steadily and stealthily building organizations, alliances and contacts that have put them close to the levers of power and put the government of Canada in their debt. Determined to outlaw homosexuality and abortion, and to restore Canada to what they see as its divinely determined destiny to be a nation ruled by Christian laws and precepts, this group of true believers has moved the country far closer to the American mix of politics and religion than most Canadians would ever believe. McDonald’s book explores how a web of evangelical far-right Christians have built think-tanks and foundations that play a prominent role in determining policy for the Conservative government of Canada. She shows how Biblical belief has allowed Christians to put dozens of MPs in office and to build a power base across the country, across cultures and even across religions. “What drives that growing Christian nationalist movement is its adherents’ conviction that the end times foretold in the book of Revelation are at hand,” writes McDonald. “Braced for an impending apocalypse, they feel impelled to ensure that Canada assumes a unique, scripturally ordained role in the final days before the Second Coming — and little else.” The Armageddon Factor shows how the religious right’s influence on the Harper government has led to hugely important but little-known changes in everything from foreign policy and the makeup of the courts to funding for scientific research and social welfare programs like daycare. And the book also shows that the religious influence is here to stay, regardless of which party ends up in government. For those who thought the religious right in Canada was confined to rural areas and the west, this book is an eye-opener, outlining to what extent the corridors of power in Ottawa are now populated by true believers. For anyone who assumed that the American religious right stopped at the border, The Armageddon Factor explains how US money and evangelists have infiltrated Canadian politics. This book should be essential reading for Canadians of every religious belief or political stripe. Indeed, The Armageddon Factor should persuade every Canadian that, with the growth of such a movement, the future direction of the country is at stake.
