The Adventures Of Sebastian The Helpful Seagull

Sebastian is a kind and helpful seagull who falls asleep on a boat. When he wakes he is in France and is lost. He is helped to return home by the Pylon People. His subsequent adventures arise from re-visiting the Pylon People and meeting the Roundabout Knights.

Life is a breeze for Sebastian’s friends, as they play and swoop for scraps in the sunshine. But not for Sebastian Seagull. He can’t join in because he has trouble with his eyesight. When Sebastian narrowly avoids becoming lunch for a hungry tomcat, his mother sends him off in search of the famed seagull eye specialist Dr. Gladstone. And so begins a series of adventures, as Dr. Gladstone’s magical cure allows Sebastian to help his colony, team up with the lovely policewoman, Jenny Wren, and pit himself against characters such as the thieving crow, Clancy Joe. Will Sebastian be able to foil the prowling rogue, Big Ginger Tom? Can he rescue the missing teddy? And will he be able to solve the mysterious case of the stolen wedding ring? Written in humorous rhyming verse and colourfully illustrated, The Adventures of Sebastian Seagull will appeal to children 3–7 years old as well as to those who are young at heart, and love the shorelines and landmarks of coastal British Columbia, where it is set.

THE STORY SO FAR Close your eyes for just a moment and imagine a small fishing village, where the tiny cottages tumble down the hill to the sea. Can you see the seagulls flying and swooping in between the rooftops? Their shrill cries to each other echoing around the village. Lovely, isn't it, but not here in Robin Hood's bay. These books are adventure stories with twisted tales of danger, ghost ships, pirates from the past, evil Goth gulls and the Bay seagulls, who think they are humans and not gulls. Their leader is Sebastian Seagull. He is very old and tired and doesn't quite understand why the young gulls colour their feathers and pretend to be humans instead of doing normal seagull things. Book One - Sebastian Seagull A small boy discovers a gold coin in the sand and this triggers the appearance of an orange mist and a ghost pirate ship on the horizon. The village has slipped into a time warp and everybody is in danger. On board the ship is the hated Captain Tobias and his evil parrot, Bilgie. Sebastian seagull remembers them from his past life when he was a cabin boy on that very ship. He was killed by the Captain. Now he has been reborn as a seagull, but Sebastian has a secret nobody knows about. He can turn himself into a mighty ghost gull whenever the pirate ship appears. Somehow the Bay gulls have to defend their village, but they are too busy playing football or strumming on a guitar. Scot gull is playing his bagpipes and Super gull is busy training to fly into space. As for Greedy gull, he just can't stop pinching ice creams from tourists and stuffing himself with meat pies and cake. Sharon, a pretty diva gull, spends her days preening her bright pink and sparkly feathers to even notice what is going on in Bay. Can they save the village from the pirates? Will their enemy Dracula, the leader of the Goth gulls from Whitby, help them? Book Two - The Storm A severe snowstorm descends on the village. The gulls are close to being frozen to death. Can Kevin, a cave bat who lives at Boggle Hole, help them? Will Noo Noo, the kind but lonely Dolphin, let them stay in his wonderful blue grotto? As for Dracula gull and his evil Goth gulls, in the ruined abbey a few miles away in Whitby, they face not only the freezing weather, but also being eaten alive by vampire bats. Will they survive? Yes, of course they do. They may like living in a fantasy world, but deep down they have a survival instinct. Book Three - The Abandoned Chick Spring arrives and life starts to get back to normal for the Bay gulls, until one day a stranger arrives in Bay and everything changes. The Christmas Tree - Sebastian Seagull (Book Four) is a short Christmas Special. It features the Robin Hood's Bay seagulls and the Goth gulls from Whitby. Yet again life for the gulls never runs smoothly. Excitement is rising as the village prepares for Christmas. Even the seagulls are having fun, providing a Christmas tree on the roof of a cottage for little Twinkle and her adopted gull mother Sharon. To add the final touches Twinkle and her best friend Gregory (youngest Goth gull from the bewitching Whitby Abbey) decide to sprinkle the tree with space dust given to them by Super gull on his return from space. What happens next disrupts the humans and the gulls and Christmas is threatened by a very unusual happening.

A New Year dawns in Robin Hood's Bay and with it comes the worst storm in seventy years. The villagers are marooned in their cottages unable to get help because of the snow. As for Sebastian's seagulls they are slowly freezing to death. What is to become of them and how does Kevin, the cave bat, help them? and Dracula and his Goth gulls in Whitby Abbey? They too are struggling to survive and have the added worry of being eaten alive by the Vampire bats! Read on to find out what happens next .......

It was an ordinary day for Harbor Master J.B. at The Harbor by the Bay. He was walking the docks making sure the boats were secured, as he did every morning. After a minute or two, J.B. realized he had company. A rather large seagull had landed and was keeping pace with the harbor master down the dock. When Harbor Master J.B. greeted the seagull, he noticed there was something different about this bird. It appeared there was something coming out of the bird’s mouth. J. B. was initially startled at the sight of the object. It must have been there a long while as whiskers had grown around it. The seagull appeared to be in no distress, in fact, quite at ease. Fascinated by this sight, Harbor Master J.B. sat down on the dock next to the seagull to learn more about this unusual bird. Can you guess what the object is?

Simon the Seagull and Sillee, his friend the pink shark with purple braces, were looking for Ollie the Octopus on the shore. "There he is!" shouts Simon. Out of the sand comes Ollie, waving and then falling onto the ground, his ten tentacles of skates rocking him from one step to the other. He falls headfirst, landing on his face and stomach, giving out a large burp. "Welcome, my friends," says Ollie. "Come ashore and to my birthday party. There will be magic. Everyone is coming."
