Words are more than just a bunch of letters. They hold immense power to inspire, motivate action, and evoke a plethora of feelings. Words often swirl within our minds, triggering ideas, sending us into deep contemplation. At their worst, words can be used to cut down, demean, or cause suffering, but at their best, they hold even greater power. In his life, Dr. Philip Morphew has found that words can lift him to great heights, give him hope, and bolster his spirit. On the flipside, words can also cause him to retreat to dark corners, curl up in the fetal position, or teeter on the edge of life itself. Soulful Reflections is a mixture of all these emotions written in gritty, contemporary style. This collection of poetry explores the many facets of lived experience, from love and lust to emptiness and loss. Morphew does not shy away from difficult emotions; rather, he plunges into lifes complexities and offers readers an emotional respite. We are all looking for love and we all have experienced the loss of love, or the pain of rejection. My poetry deals with Love, Friendship, hopes and dreams, but at the same time gives hope. Most of my poems are about an essence of a person, and the possiblity of finding them in this lifetime. My poems relate to a lot of different situations. They are easy to read and understand. I have been told by some people that they were not fond of poetry but after reading some of my poems have completely changed their opinion.

Michaela has always been a driven, strong-willed, independent woman. She excelled both in her education and career. At the University where she taught, she was respected by both her colleagues and students. Away from the hallowed halls of learning, however, Michaela had been battling with herself most of her life. As a young girl, she discovered the art of writing. This avenue of creativity allowed her to release the pent-up emotion of an unhappy childhood. Being raised by a single mother who battled mental illness, she saw first-hand the side effects. Seeing the behaviors of her mother, Michaela feared she was destined for the same fate. Michaela decided to use her creativity to her advantage. Soulful Reflections is a compilation of her work which chronicles her battles with depression and anxiety.
