A Torah scroll is mainly used in the ritual of Torah reading during Jewish prayers. At other times, it is stored in the holiest spot within a synagogue, the Torah ark, which is usually an ornate curtained-off cabinet or section of the synagogue built along the wall that most closely faces Jerusalem, the direction Jews face when praying. He was trained as a Civil Engineer at the Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées in France and at the University of California at Berkeley. Francis Moïsi is a fourth-generation Parisian, born into a French Jewish family of Romanian and Lithuanian origin. He was raised in an observant Jewish household and has been a long-time member of the MJLF, a Reform congregation in Paris, where he is now a member of the Executive Board and a Vice President.This book was first published in Paris in November 2016.
