Author Nancy Caye Jones and illustrator Andy Rubin are both from Detroit and share a love of community, a welcoming attitude toward all people, and a willingness to question and resist the forces that threaten our planet. Nancy taught Spanish and Art History at Wayne State University before joining the staff of the Detroit Institute of Arts. She led the museum's transformation to a community-oriented venue through a visitor-centered approach to viewing and interpreting art, and engaging programming for all ages. Since retiring from the museum, she has devoted her time to writing. Andy was a Master Printer at Tandem Press at the University of Wisconsin, Madison for over twenty-five years. He has been invited to lead printmaking workshops throughout the United States, and his art has been included in numerous national art exhibitions.
