Hazel Ruth Keyes was born 3 November 1899 in Greenfield, Franklin County, Massachusetts. Her parents were Darwin Thornton Keyes (1872-1949) and Susan Ella Hubbard (1872-1931). Her grandparents were Simeon Porter Keyes, Frances Ann Allen, Charles L. Hubbard and Susan. Ancestors lived mainly in Massachusetts, England and Europe.
