Transport and the spatial location of population and activities have been important themes of study in engineering, social sciences and urban and regional planning for many decades. The interface between land use management and transportation planning represents probably the most important spatial impact in sustainable land use, mobility and transportation development. Mobility is fundamental to economic and social activities such as commuting, manufacturing, or supplying energy.
