8th International Symposium

This collection features contributions covering the advances and developments of new high-temperature metallurgical technologies and their applications to the areas of: processing of minerals; extraction of metals; preparation of metallic, refractory, and ceramic materials; treatment and recycling of slag and wastes; conservation of energy; and environmental protection. The volume will have a broad impact on the academics and professionals serving the metallurgical industries around the world by providing them with comprehensive coverage of a wide variety of topics.

This book constitutes the proceedings of the 8th International Symposium on Business Modeling and Software Design, BMSD 2018, held in Vienna, Austria, in July 2018. The 14 full papers and 21 short papers selected for inclusion in this book deal with a large number of research topics: (i) Some topics concern Business Processes (BP), such as BP modeling / notations / visualizations, BP management, BP variability, BP contracting, BP interoperability, BP modeling within augmented reality, inter-enterprise collaborations, and so on; (ii) Other topics concern Software Design, such as software ecosystems, specification of context-aware software systems, service-oriented solutions and micro-service architectures, product variability, software development monitoring, and so on; (iii) Still other topics are crosscutting with regard to business modeling and software design, such as data analytics as well as information security and privacy; (iv) Other topics concern hot technology / innovation areas, such as blockchain technology and internet-of-things. Underlying with regard to all those topics is the BMSD’18 theme: Enterprise Engineering and Software Engineering - Processes and Systems for the Future.

Proceedings of the 8th International Symposium on Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning is based on the 8th International Symposium of the same name (ISHVAC2013), which took place in Xi’an on October 19-21, 2013. The conference series was initiated at Tsinghua University in 1991 and has since become the premier international HVAC conference initiated in China, playing a significant part in the development of HVAC and indoor environmental research and industry around the world. This international conference provided an exclusive opportunity for policy-makers, designers, researchers, engineers and managers to share their experience. Considering the recent attention on building energy consumption and indoor environments, ISHVAC2013 provided a global platform for discussing recent research on and developments in different aspects of HVAC systems and components, with a focus on building energy consumption, energy efficiency and indoor environments. These categories span a broad range of topics, and the proceedings provide readers with a good general overview of recent advances in different aspects of HVAC systems and related research. As such, they offer a unique resource for further research and a valuable source of information for those interested in the subject. The proceedings are intended for researchers, engineers and graduate students in the fields of Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC), indoor environments, energy systems, and building information and management. Ambient Intelligence (AmI) is a recent paradigm emerging from Artificial Intelligence, in which computers are used as proactive tools to assist people with their day-to-day activities, making their lives more comfortable. Another main goal of AmI originates from the human/computer interaction domain and focuses on offering ways to interact with systems in a more natural way by means of user-friendly interfaces. This field is evolving quickly, as can be witnessed by the emerging natural-language-based and gesture-based types of interaction. The inclusion of computational power and communication technologies in everyday objects is growing, and their embeddedness in our environments should be as invisible as possible. In order for AmI to be successful, human interaction with computing power and embedded systems in the surroundings should be smooth and take place without people actually noticing it. The only things people should notice in connection with AmI are more safety, comfort and wellbeing, emerging in a natural and inherent way. ISAmI is the International Symposium on Ambient Intelligence and aims to bring together researchers from the various disciplines that constitute the scientific field of Ambient Intelligence to present and discuss the latest results, new ideas, projects and lessons learned, especially in terms of software and applications.

The management of rights-of-way by electric and telephone utilities, highway departments, gas pipeline companies, and railroads around the world is guided and constrained by policies and regulations to protect the environment. Companies that manage rights-of-way are required to comply with these regulations, and are seeking the most cost-effective management practices that, at the same time, demonstrate stewardship of the environment. This book presents the proceedings of Mecsol 2022. This book constitutes the proceedings of the 8th International Conference on End-User Development, IS-EUD 2021, held in July 2021. Due to COVID-19 pandemic the conference was held virtually. The paper track received 26 submissions, of which 11 full and 4 short papers were selected after a rigorous double-blind review process. The papers focus on "Democratizing AI development", namely on EUD for AI-based systems, where end users are called-on to become end-user developers of intelligent agents, digital twins, collaborative systems and social robots.

You can find in this book the development of highly and fully automatic driving and the increasing electrification of the powertrain now face chassis development with new challenges too. Innovative chassis systems have to provide solutions for automated driving. The efficient chassis of the future also has to keep an eye on CO2 targets, comfort and customer focus at all times. A modern chassis has to provide for this in the form of innovations while taking the physical and mechanical interdependencies into account. Confronting these new developments is a challenge for simulation and testing.
