Abstracts: Working pregnant is something an increasing number of women are doing. This guide is a compenduim of information on managing pregnancy and coping with issues of maternity leave, child care, and getting back to work. The ideas and tips were gleaned from the author's personal experience and interviews with other women. Timing a pregnancy with regard to career objeectives, job, a couple's desire to have a child, and their lifestyle is discussed. An overview of pregnancy is provided: medical care, physical and emotional changes, the development of the fetus, common health problems and possible complications in pregnancy, labor and delivery. How to plan, negotiate, and implement maternity leave is discussed. Nutrition and exercise are important concerns during pregnancy. Personal aspects are also important, i.e. maintenance of a professional look via clothing, skin, and hair care. Suggestions are offered on choosing a pediatrician, deciding between breast and bottle-feeding, preparing the home, birth annoucements and baby naming. The issue of child care is a crucial one - who should do it, where to find it, what type is best, and tax issues involved. Finally, preparing for the return to work is descussed.
