Whitt Johnson Family History

Estill V. "Eck" Whitt (1902-1987), son of Jonas Bentley Whitt and Mary Alice Rose, married Sara Ann Johnson (1900-1983), daughter of Herschel Vaughn Johnson and Cora Agnes Bailey. Both Estill and Sara were born in Elliott County, Kentucky and later moved to Clermont County, Ohio. Whitt ancestry is traced to Richard Whitt (ca. 1728/30-ca. 1809/13) and Susannah Scruggs of Virginia and the Carolinas. Johnson ancestry is traced to Jesse Johnson and Ann Stanfield who were married in 1798 in Greene County, Tennessee and later moved to Kentucky. Much information is also given on other ancestral lines.

This book is the beginning of my serious research of The Johnson Family genealogy. This process has taken over two years. Much of the data contained in this book provides a wealth of information on our family's genealogy. I could not believe that there was so much information available and yet I could not find much information on our family from the slavery era in the United States. William Johnson was born about 1630, probably @ Zinden, Holland (now Germany), and immigrated to New Haven in 1645. He died in 1716.
