Waltzing Matilda Manuscript Notated By Christina Macpherson

Manuscript of the melody and verses of the song Waltzing Matilda, notated by Christina Macpherson, ca.1895. The manuscript was loaned by the Bartlam-Roulston Families to Richard Magoffin for display in his Waltzing Matilda Expo in Kynuna, Queensland, from 1994-2006. Material relating to Magoffin's research on the origins of the song is held in the Magoffin Papers (MS 9753). A subsequent draft by Macpherson of the Waltzing Matilda music and lyrics is held in the Christina Macpherson Papers (MS 9065), together with related papers.

Also housed with the collection is a plastic bag of photographs taken at an official morning tea in the Manuscript Section, 10 January 1997, to mark the presentation of Waltzing Matilda manuscripts to the National Library (21 pieces, photographs, 1 folder).
