Although the hope was entertained of subsequently conn'nuing the half-ho work could not be yet it led to further studies, which made the author acquainted with many facts which had previously been but little known, and showed at the same time how scanty and incorrect was all the information about this beaun'ful country, and especially about the provinces in which he had made the longest stay.
