Merleau-Ponty's categories of the visible and the invisible are investigated afresh and with originality in this penetrating collection of literary and philosophical inquiries. Going beyond the traditional and current references to the mental and the sensory, mind and body, perceptual content and the abstract ideas conveyed in language, etc., these studies range from the `hidden spheres of reality', to the play of the visible and the invisible left as traces in works of human genius, the origins of intellect and language, the real and the imaginary in literature, and the `hidden realities' in the philosophy of the everyday world. These literary and philosophical probings collectively reveal the role of this disjoined/conjoined pairing in the ontopoietic establishment of reality, that is, in the manifestation of the logos of life. In tandem they bring to light the hidden play of the visible and the invisible in the emergence of our vital, societal, intimate, intellectual, and creative involvements.

In part an exploration of spirituality and paranormal phenomena (which in the German language is known as GRENZWISSENSCHAFT and may be translated into English as Borderline Science). Experimental work is involved. It deals with esoteric philosophy, parapsychology and transpersonal experience, also exploring the meaning and mystery of life itself.

In Invisible Reality LaPier presents an unconventional, creative, and innovative history that blends extensive archival research, vignettes of family stories, and traditional knowledge learned from elders along with personal reflections on her own journey learning Blackfeet stories. The result is a nuanced look at the history of the Blackfeet and their relationship with the natural world.

The Visible and the Invisible contains the unfinished manuscript and working notes of the book Merleau-Ponty was writing when he died. The text is devoted to a critical examination of Kantian, Husserlian, Bergsonian, and Sartrean method, followed by the extraordinary "The Intertwining--The Chiasm," that reveals the central pattern of Merleau-Ponty's own thought. The working notes for the book provide the reader with a truly exciting insight into the mind of the philosopher at work as he refines and develops new pivotal concepts.

This book, Reality Beyond the Visible, is the result of my endeavour to personally develop a better understanding of the multi-dimensional and complex nature of reality. The natural sciences and the scientific method are essential and effective tools to explore physical reality. However, as human beings, we encounter realities well beyond the visible world. We experience intangible phenomena in our lives that are distinctly different from physical reality. Science and the scientific method, with their strict adherence to sense perception as the only accepted approach to studying reality, are ill-equipped to explore such worlds. It is against this background that I have written this book to explore all the dimensions of reality beyond the visible world. In particular, the book examines the concept of reality enshrined in the Writings of the Bahá'í Faith: namely, that there are forces and entities in the world of existence independent from physical reality. This is essentially the objective reality, through the expression of which in the material world, we can experience and observe other realities. This objective reality manifests itself in the world of existence as visible and invisible realities. The visible reality is the physical or material world, which is also known as the material or physical reality. The invisible reality, on the other hand, is intangible, and beyond direct human sensory perception. There are distinctively different types of invisible realities: intelligible reality, social reality and spiritual reality. The contents of the book are organised into seven sections and structured into 37 chapters. The sections are "reality and investigation methods," "nature of reality," "creation," "visible reality," "spiritual reality," "social reality," and "human complex reality." The book is written in the form of a tutorial that simulates, as much as possible, the tutor-tutored relationship in a self-paced personal study scheme. The content is scaffolded and structured to foster easy assimilation and support effective learning.
