Troy ounces and pounds being now practically obsolete. These weights are replaced by equivalent quantities in the avoirdupois system. Liquid quantities are expressed in the apothecaries' system. F requently it was considered advisable to alter working directions for making foreign preparations; for example, by the substitution of percolation for maceration.
