“The Prophetic Matrix (in Christ)” is intended to be a practical teaching book using the Scriptures, what I have learned in 27+ years of ministry in churches throughout the nations, my experience as a mentor and discipler, my experience as a founding director and team member of our ministry, and my ministry knowledge as a servant apostle who teaches and preaches the word of God … and occasionally … has dreams, operates in discernment, and prophesies. I will be sharing teaching from Scripture, ministry experience, and testimonies, and along the way we will examine in much more detail the gift of prophecy, the matrix of prophecy within the New Testament, the role of New Testament prophecy and prophets, and how prophets can work together with apostles and other fivefold ministry gifts. Most importantly we will comprehend the importance of revelation, which Apostle Paul defines separately from prophecy (see 1 Corinthians 14:6). Through this process we will lay a foundation of Scriptural truth and Christological application that will help to bring the church into alignment with God’s heart concerning the gift of prophecy. It’s supernatural! The five offices (or ascension gifts) that Apostle Paul speaks of in Ephesians Chapter 4, verse 11, are given for the work of the ministry and to mature the church; our greatest ministry here on earth is to know Christ, and to make Christ known. On this positive and thought-provoking foundation, let’s take a deep dive in the Word together to re-examine old truths, and establish new truth in Christ about the New Testament gift of prophecy and other gifts given by the Holy Spirit. Aernie examines the prophetic material in the Old Testament and its relationship with the prophetic material in Second Temple Judaism, Hellenism, and the early Christian movement. The subsequent analysis of 1 Corinthians constitutes an investigation of the effect of the Old Testament prophetic tradition on Paul's self-presentation in 1 Cor 9.15-18 and rhetorical framework in 1 Cor 14.20-25 as a methodological foundation for the exegetical analysis of 2 Corinthians. Aernie explores the influence of the Old Testament prophetic tradition on Paul's apostolic self-presentation and rhetoric in 2 Corinthians. The analysis of Paul's self-presentation examines the apostle's relationship with Moses, the Isaianic servant, and Jeremiah in order to define Paul's position with regard to the preceding prophetic tradition. Aernie analyses Paul's argument in 2 Cor 2.14-16; 4.1-6; 6.14-7.1; 12.1-10 then seeks to examine the influence of the Old Testament prophetic tradition on the formation of Paul's rhetorical framework.
