It’s Oscar night in Hollywood, and after years of climbing the entertainment ladder, media darling Meredith Johansen has finally taken home a gold statue. Across town, rookie Detective Patricia Norelli is working late with hopes of breaking through her own glass ceiling with a promotion in the LAPD. Their paths unexpectedly collide when Johansen is discovered dead in her Bel Air home, only hours after Oscar night festivities ended. With a note but few clues, authorities rule it a suicide. Norelli’s instinct says murder—a hunch worth risking a pending promotion to prove otherwise. When a long list of suspects emerges, she and partner Detective Stuart Brown find themselves entangled in a chaotic series of lies. Trying to find the real killer amidst a web of deception, Norelli & Brown lose ground when a key suspect turns up dead. Before Brown can return from a short leave, Norelli gets too close to the truth and lands in the trap of a pathological killer. If you like Michael Connelly’s Harry Bosch and John Sanford's Lucas Davenport, you’ll enjoy David Temple’s Pat Norelli.

In the making of this project, my intentions were not to make myself out to be perfect or flawless. If some of my behaviors throughout the story raised a few eyebrows, then good, and so be it. Yet what I was hoping the reader would see as they read through, and would come to realize, is that as my faith in and understanding of God grew, so my behavior, actions, and views, not just of the current situation (as I was once willing to settle then decided otherwise), but myself and where I made a stand (both during and before this chain of incidents) were changed. As I was lighted by the word, gaining both knowledge and understanding, wisdom was near, adding too. My spiritual maturity, growing more and more, was begging to shine through. As the Spirit was shining through and becoming stronger, so I was having the old removed. In writing this, I did not want it to be so that only one who has understanding or knowledge of the word would understand. In fact, I had those in mind that do not go to church or hardly, if ever, read the word. Thus, the reason I used scriptures, in an effort to both get one somewhat familiar with the word and be able to see and perhaps apply it in a different manner. In doing, I am not intending this to be only for the believers or current believers, yet just as well, I know that those who pick this book up and being completely turned off by God or even the very idea of the Most High will most likely toss it aside after the first few pages. Yet for those who have any interest, idea, knowledge, or understanding of God, whether it be from least to greatest, controversial or acceptance, will be able to read through this story and, God willing, be able to take something from it in one form or another. Thank you for taking the time to read this story. Again, I would hope that it has in some way given something to you. May God be with you. We are all in this together.

In the first modern biography of Lord Mansfield (1705-1793), Norman Poser details the turbulent political life of eighteenth-century Britain's most powerful judge, serving as chief justice for an unprecedented thirty-two years. His legal decisions launched England on the path to abolishing slavery and the slave trade, modernized commercial law in ways that helped establish Britain as the world's leading industrial and trading nation, and his vigorous opposition to the American colonists stoked Revolutionary fires. Although his father and brother were Jacobite rebels loyal to the deposed King James II, Mansfield was able to rise through English society to become a member of its ruling aristocracy and a confidential advisor to two kings. Poser sets Mansfield's rulings in historical context while delving into Mansfield's circle, which included poets (Alexander Pope described him as "his country's pride"), artists, actors, clergymen, noblemen and women, and politicians. Still celebrated for his application of common sense and moral values to the formal and complicated English common law system, Mansfield brought a practical and humanistic approach to the law. His decisions continue to influence the legal systems of Canada, Britain, and the United States to an extent unmatched by any judge of the past. An illuminating account of one of the greatest legal minds, Lord Mansfield presents a vibrant look at Britain's Age of Reason through one of its central figures.
