The Miracle Of Ahmad

The book, The Miracle of Ahmad (I‘jāz-e-Ahmadi) is one of the signs of truthfulness of the Founder of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community. It was written in 1902 when an opponent in Mudh, India alleged that all prophecies made by Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad(as) were false and that he did not possess the miraculous knowledge of the Arabic language he had claimed. In response, the Promised Messiah(as) wrote this book containing a lengthy Arabic Qasīdah [ode] in praise of the Holy Prophet Muhammad, may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, in a mere five days. He challenged his opponents to produce the like of it and announced a prize money of Rs. 10,000 which was his total worth at the time. No one arose to the challenge. Instead, a large number of residents of town of Mudh were decimated by the plague as prophesied in this book.

This study illustrates why the language of the Qur'an is miraculous, unique, and evidence of divine authority. The author compares the language of the Qur'an with the language of pre-Islamic poetry, the Prophet's words (hadith), and the language of the Arabs both past and present, to demonstrate that although the Qur'an was revealed in Arabic it was at the same time an Arabic which was entirely new. Original and early Muslim audiences viewed this as miraculous and responded to the Qur'an's words, sounds, rhythms, etc. in a manner consistent with a deeper appreciation of its beauty and majesty which modern ears, trained by familiarity, and despite being surrounded by all manner of dictionaries and studies, are at a loss to capture. The author attempts to remove this veil and present the Qur'an to readers as if hearing it for the first time, to bring to life some of this wonder. In doing so he guides readers to appreciate the beauty of the Qur'an, to become more immersed in it, and to have a clearer understanding of its structure and flow. Devoting special attention to Surah Al Muddaththir, to underpin his analysis, Saeh thus brings the Revelation to life, to demonstrate that each surah has distinct features and characteristics that make it stand out uniquely within the design and sweep of the whole.

Was the Holy Prophet of Islam in any doubt about his Prophethood? Were any miracles shown by him? Did he possess the knowledge of the Unseen? These and some other questions are answered in this book, by Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, the Promised Messiah and Mahdi(as), founder of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama'at. The Author corrects the miss-interpretation of the verses of the Holy Quran, spread by the detractors of Islam. He describes in detail the genesis of miracles, in the light of the Miracle of the Holy Quran, and repudiates the aspersions cast on Islam, through strong arguments and pertinent examples from the Gospels. Fath-e-Islam (The Victory of Islam) is an Urdu treatise penned in 1890 by Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad(as), the Promised Messiah and Mahdi. It outlines the Divinely ordained strategy to combat the aggressive misinformation campaigns orchestrated by the Christian missionaries throughout the Muslim world. Accordingly, the Promised Messiah(as) implemented the following five branches: 1. Publishing books 2. Distributing leaflets 3. Hosting guests and visitors in search of truth 4. Replying to letters of inquiry 5. Establishing a community through bai‘at (initiation) Through these five initiatives, the Promised Messiah(as) was not only able to effectively defend Islam and the Holy Prophet Muhammad(sa) against the widespread slanders, but he also took the offensive by exposing the fundamental weaknesses of the Christian faith and its deviations from the true teachings of Jesus(as).

Islam is a religion that inculcates the importance of being loyal to the country in which one lives. Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, peace be upon him, the Promised Messiah and Mahdi, and Founder of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, always taught the same to his followers. However, Maulvi Muhammad Husain of Batala, a staunch opponent, sought to defame the author by sending false reports to the government alleging that the Promised Messiah, peace be upon him, was a man who secretly conspired against the state. Against this backdrop, the author was moved to pen this treatise, in which he outlines his own family background and the long-standing services of his family in support of the British government. He also presents a succinct summary of the teachings of his community. Moreover, the author explains that Muslims who believe in the return of a violent Mahdi who would forcibly convert the world to Islam could not be further from the truth.

Khutbah Ilhamiyyah (‘The Revealed Sermon’) is an Arabic sermon delivered by Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, the Promised Messiah(as), on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha. On that very morning of 11 April 1900, he had received the Divine revelation, ‘Today you will deliver the speech in Arabic; you have been endowed with this ability.’ Accordingly, he stood up before a live audience of approximately 200 people and began to deliver the sermon ad lib. A stream of eloquently structured sentences in the Arabic language began to flow forth in rapid succession, highlighting the nature and essence of the Islamic philosophy of sacrifice. We present here the actual text of the sermon as transcribed by two audience members while the sermon was simultaneously being delivered. Khutbah Ilhamiyyah is an insightful read for anyone seeking to behold a Divine miracle in all its grandeur and glory, and the profound mysteries deeply embedded within the Arabic language.

At a time when injustice, immorality and sin ran rampant, the religion of Islam dawned to revive the bond between humanity and its Creator, and to establish peace in the world. It was at the hand of the Prophet of Islam that an unparalleled moral and spiritual transformation took place. But the Holy Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, prophesied that a time would come when the true teachings of Islam would be forgotten and at this time a divinely appointed reformer would appear to rejuvenate Islam. In fulfilment of this prophecy, Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, peace be upon him, appeared in Qadian, India, and claimed to be the divinely appointed reformer awaited by all the world religions. This book comprises an address delivered by the Promised Messiah, in which he speaks about the purpose of his advent and what it means to be an Ahmadi.

Siratul-Abdal (Hallmarks of the Saints) was penned in Arabic by Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, the Promised Messiah, peace be on him, in 1903. The book describes the distinctive qualities, morals, and virtues that set apart those who have made a holy change in themselves for the sake of God. Indeed, the life of the Promised Messiah himself is a compelling portrait of the characteristics of such holy personages. Siratul-Abdal is a masterpiece of the Arabic language, employing the most eloquent, powerful, and persuasive features of expression of classical Arabic. Although the eloquence of the original text simply cannot be reproduced in another language, every effort has been made to convey the message of the original Arabic text.

"How can a false claimant of Prophethood be likened to me? I have been supported by numerous miracles. My success is from God and is a fulfillment of His promises. It is not within the control of any human being." To this simple message is "A Gift For An-Nadwah" dedicated. In this short and incisive tract, Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad(as) responds to the contention made by Hafiz Muhammad Yusuf that even false claimants of Prophethood can establish successful missions. Through the use of this critique Muhammad Yusuf hoped to undermine the success of the Promised Messiah(as). With strong, reasoned arguments Hadrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad(as) deconstructs this thesis and exposes its inherent flaws and defects. He argues that false prophets can never succeed and that to hold such beliefs is a direct contradiction of the teachings of Islam. Instead, the triumph of God's Messengers is a miracle and a Divine sign in support of their truth. The principle audience of this work were the ulema of An-Nadwah who were called on by Hafiz Muhammad Yusuf to judge the merits of these contending claims.
