Rufus Edwards, son of Ariel Edwards and Lydia Dodge, was born 15 October 1807 at Rodman, New York. He married Ruth Huestis (1816-1890), daughter of Michael Huestis and Margaret Gordinier, in about 1837 at Rodman, New York. Rufus died 4 March 1867. Descendants lived mainly in New York, Iowa, Montana and California.
