Excerpt from The Chicago Daily News Almanac and Year-Book for 1913 Moon - The moon has a diameter of miles, a circumference of about miles and a sur face area of a uare miles. Her mean distance from the ear is 840 miles. The vol ume of the moon is about 1-49th that of the earth and the density about 3 2-5 that of water. The time from new moon to new moon is 29 days 12 hours minutes. The moon has no atmos phere and no water and is a dead world.
