Excerpt from The American Friends': Peace Conference Held at Philadelphia, Twelfth Month 12th, 13th and 14th, 1901 We all recognize that the only proper beginning for such a Con ference as this upon which we are entering is the seeking of the favor of Almighty God; and as true spiritual worship is a matter between the individual soul and the Creator, I suggest that a few moments be first given to silent communion with Him. While we are so engaged, should there be a feeling on the mind of any of the duty Of vocal prayer, we shall all appreciate its appropriateness and endeavor to be baptized into the spirit of it.
