Download Surface Roughness Measurement Using Laser Speckle Statistical Analysis Book in PDF, Epub and Kindle
This work represents a noncontact nondestructive technique for surface roughness measurement. The technique is based on investigating the statistical properties of the speckle patterns that are developed whenever a surface is illuminated with a highly coherent light source such as a laser. The main objective is to correlate the sizes of the speckles with their light intensities to the surface roughness and profile. Different statistical approaches and correlation analysis have been implemented. Spatial data analysis, or variogram analysis, has been used to develop the relationship between observations taken at various locations. Among the other advantages of such an approach, this technique is simple to implement and suitable for operation in a manufacturing environment.

Download Optical Measurement Methods in Biomechanics Book in PDF, Epub and Kindle
This book has been written to provide research workers with an introd- tion to several optical techniques for new applications. It is intended to be comprehensible to people from a wide range of backgrounds - no prior optical or physics knowledge has been assumed. However, sufficient technical details have been included to enable the reader to understand the basics of the techniques and to be able to read further from the ref- ences if necessary. The book should be as useful to postgraduate students and experienced researchers as those entering the bioengineering field, irrespective of whether they have a technical or clinical background. It has been prepared with an awareness of the inherent difficulties in und- standing aspects of optics which, in the past, have precluded practical application. The contents address a broad range of optical measurement techniques which have been used in biomechanics, techniques characterized as n- contacting and non-destructive. Theoretical outlines and practical advice on gaining entry to the fields of expertise are complemented by biomec- nical case studies and key literature references. The aim is to present each technique, to appraise its advantages and capabilities and thereby to allow informed selection of an appropriate method for a particular app- cation. It is anticipated that research workers will be assisted in est- lishing new methodologies and gain first-hand experience of the techniques.

Download Dynamic Laser Speckle and Applications Book in PDF, Epub and Kindle
Speckle study constitutes a multidisciplinary area with inherent complexities. In order to conquer challenges such as the variability of samples and sensitive measurements, researchers must develop a theoretical and statistical understanding of both biological and non-biological metrology using dynamic speckle laser. Dynamic Laser Speckle and Applications discusses the main methodologies used to analyze biospeckle phenomena with a strong focus on experimentation. After establishing a theoretical background in both speckle and biospeckle, the book presents the main methodologies for statistical and image analysis. It then deals with the concept of frequency decomposition before moving on to a discussion of fuzzy methods to treat dynamic speckle data. The book dedicates two sections to applications, including agricultural approaches. Additional features include photo images of experiments and software to aid in easy start-up of dynamic speckle usage. A systematic approach to new dynamic speckle laser phenomena, this book provides the physical theory and statistical background needed to analyze images formed by laser illumination in biological and non-biological samples.
