Every royal has their dirty little secret. His was... me. It should have been simple. Go to the ball, meet the prince, and secure his patronage for my favorite charity. But beneath the mask, the brooding beast of a man was not at all who I expected. He was dark and intense and eerily quiet. When I left, I could still feel the ghost of his touch branded into my skin. He haunted my dreams, but I never expected to see him again. Then he came for me. And he took me. And I learned that his darkness was a void I never could have conceived. He's the crown prince. And, now, I'm his captive. This is a full length standalone with dark themes.

I showed up in South Korea with $20 and a dubious offer to teach English. Jennifer was the wickedly smart, fiercely independent second daughter of one of Korea's most influential families. We fell in love in a country where even sitting together brought angry stares, taunts, and threats. Our employer forbade us from seeing each other, but we continued in secret for a full year. One day, her family doubted her story and had her followed. After days of hiding and violence, we abandoned everything and fled to Hong Kong, where a new set of problems began.

“More fun to read than the movie was to watch... a scene-stealing book.” — The Washington Post An Entertainment Weekly "Must List" selection Caddyshack is one of the most beloved comedies of all time, a classic snobs vs. slobs story of working class kids and the white collar buffoons that make them haul their golf bags in the hot summer sun. It has sex, drugs and one very memorable candy bar, but the movie we all know and love didn’t start out that way, and everyone who made it certainly didn’t have the word “classic” in mind as the cameras were rolling. In Caddyshack:The Making of a Hollywood Cinderella Story film critic for Entertainment Weekly Chris Nashawaty goes behind the scenes of the iconic film, chronicling the rise of comedy’s greatest deranged minds as they form The National Lampoon, turn the entertainment industry on its head, and ultimately blow up both a golf course and popular culture as we know it. Caddyshack is at once an eye-opening narrative about one of the most interesting, surreal, and dramatic film productions there’s ever been, and a rich portrait of the biggest, and most revolutionary names in Hollywood. So, it’s got that going for it...which is nice.

Prince Armand knows he can be a good ruler. Unfortunately, his father can't see past Armand's stutter and would rather marry him off to strengthen their alliances than listen to him. Unbeknownst to Armand, however, the future of his people and of his happiness rests in the hands of the kingdom's most notorious thief, the Magpie. Cyn's only hope for redemption from her role in her father's death lies in saving her family from the streets. Under her stepmother's direction, Cyn prepares for her biggest-and hopefully last-heist: robbing the gentry blind at the upcoming masquerade ball. But when the handsome prince catches Cyn in the act, sparks fly and an unusual deal is struck: her freedom in exchange for nightly conversation. Nothing is as it seems, though, and as war looms on the horizon, two proud hearts must learn to trust, forgive, and find the confidence they need in order to save the kingdom and themselves. For fans of Marissa Meyer, Shannon Hale's Goose Girl, and Jennifer Nielsen's False Prince series. A reluctant female, he-falls-first romance with secret identities, forced proximity, and light fantasy magic weaving it all together.

Advice from the Empty Nest is meant to do just what it says, provide advice. The perspective is that of an older person, admittedly traditional in nature, speaking to people in their 30s who are about to embark on marriage, or partnership, possibly having children and raising them. While traditional in setting, the advice can serve well anyone who is coupling and moving forward in a familial environment. The advice is not given in a parental fashion, as that might be perceived as officious, but more avuncular in nature. The style of the book is conversational, a little off-hand and homespun, somewhat in the style of Bill Bryson, but nowhere near as detailed, and occasionally humorous. Chapter topics are purposely short and eclectic, ranging from “Buy a Good Can Opener” to “Disney World: When to Go and Other Tips” and “How to Pick a Home, a Neighborhood, a Community,” to more thoughtful pieces as in “I Love You,” “I Gave Away My Train Set Today,” “Love Never Dies”, “Too Nice a Day to Die”, and “Should I Go (Back) to Church” Almost all chapters blend practical advice with a philosophical rationale, setting a framework for decision-making on the topic, some even with questions to ask. Rarely is advice given as to what specific decision is to be made; rather the advice focuses on what the decision means to the reader and urges the reader to think carefully about the real impact of the decision. Chapter topics are almost randomly positioned, but purposely alternating between minor, more casual topics, and others that are more serious and thoughtful. This is a non-linear book that can be picked up and read in short intervals and in any order. The reader might just need one particular chapter, and once reading or at least scanning the book, it can be used as a reference tool, when needed. The book is not meant to be read only one time, just for enjoyment or to kill time in the airport. In fact, it is meant to be kept and used and passed along. It is a book that Martha Stewart or the Today Show could recommend and would be a great gift. This is an enjoyable book to read, and one that will provide help and value for years to come.
