Sri Chaitanya-charitamrta is the main work on the life and teachings of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, the incarnation of Krishna who appeared in India five hundred years ago. Lord Chaitanya introduced the chanting of the holy names of God as the prescribed method of God-realization for our time. Queen Kunti, a tragic and heroic figure, emerges from an explosive era in the history of ancient India. Her teachings are simple and illuminating outpourings revealing the deepest transcendental emotions of the heart and the deepest philosophical and theological penetrations of the intellect. As they appear in the First Canto of the Bhagavatam, Queen Kunti's celebrated prayers consist of only twenty-six couplets (verses 18 through 43 of the Eighth Chapter), yet they are considered a philosophical, theological, and literary masterpiece. The quality of our consciousness can go up or down based on how we see the world and act in it. When we act like the eternal spiritual beings that we are – small parts of a supreme whole – makes us happy. But if we focus our attempts at happiness on the temporary body and mind – on matter – and make those our life's priority, our consciousness will shrink and we’ll be miserable. Spiritual elevation – raising our consciousness to higher levels – happens quickly when we revive our God consciousness. In this compact book, Srila Prabhupada recommends seeing the world as it is – a temporary place full of anxiety – and then taking the road to higher consciousness by rediscovering our relationship with the Supreme Person, Krishna. The two works, Vidagdha-mādhava and Lalita-mādhava were written by Śrīla Rūpa Gosvāmī. The Vidagdha-mādhava describes pastimes in Vṛndāvana, and the the pastimes in Lalita-mādhava begins in Vṛndāvana and ends in Dvārakā. Both of them, praised by Rāmānanda Rāya and Caitanya Mahāprabhu for its excellent verses, wonderfully describe the emotions of the highest rasa.Vidagdha-mādhava, a seven-act play was completed by Śrīla Rūpa Gosvāmī in the 1533 A.D. This work concerning Kṛṣṇa, friend of the gopīs, is permeated with ornaments in the form of conversations. The land within Vṛndāvana has become the arena for the performance of the drama. The spring season in which the moon has become newly red in response has become the suitable time.
