The entomologist was exceptionally fortunate in discovering a colony of pedogenetic larvae, presumably those of M i a s to r am e r i c a n a. These extremely peculiar forms were previously unknown in this country and have been studied by only a few Europeans. A summarized account of these interesting larvae is given in an appendix.
