The availability of increased computational power and the proliferation of the Internet have facilitated the production and distribution of unauthorized copies of multimedia information. As a result, the problem of multimedia copyright protection has attracted the interest of the worldwide scientific and the business communities. The most promising solution seems to be the watermarking process where the original data is marked with ownership information hidden in an imperceptible manner in the original signal. Watermarking in Audio: Key Techniques and Technologies is an inclusive compilation of the most important and fundamental theories and techniques in digital audio watermarking. It includes a comprehensive overview of the state-of-the-art techniques used in digital audio watermarking and focuses on two key issues in digital audio watermarking: psychoacoustic modeling and synchronization. The fundamental theories and the innovative techniques introduced in this book can be directly applied not only to digital audio watermarking, but also to perceptual digital audio coding. Watermarking in Audio will serve as an essential reference to the scientists and researchers in digital audio and related fields, including engineering and information technology.

This book provides information on digital audio watermarking, its applications, and its evaluation for copyright protection of audio signals – both basic and advanced. The author covers various advanced digital audio watermarking algorithms that can be used for copyright protection of audio signals. These algorithms are implemented using hybridization of advanced signal processing transforms such as fast discrete curvelet transform (FDCuT), redundant discrete wavelet transform (RDWT), and another signal processing transform such as discrete cosine transform (DCT). In these algorithms, Arnold scrambling is used to enhance the security of the watermark logo. This book is divided in to three portions: basic audio watermarking and its classification, audio watermarking algorithms, and audio watermarking algorithms using advance signal transforms. The book also covers optimization based audio watermarking. Describes basic of digital audio watermarking and its applications, including evaluation parameters for digital audio watermarking algorithms; Provides audio watermarking algorithms using advanced signal transformations; Provides optimization based audio watermarking algorithms.

This book offers comprehensive coverage on the most important aspects of audio watermarking, from classic techniques to the latest advances, from commonly investigated topics to emerging research subdomains, and from the research and development achievements to date, to current limitations, challenges, and future directions. It also addresses key topics such as reversible audio watermarking, audio watermarking with encryption, and imperceptibility control methods. The book sets itself apart from the existing literature in three main ways. Firstly, it not only reviews classical categories of audio watermarking techniques, but also provides detailed descriptions, analysis and experimental results of the latest work in each category. Secondly, it highlights the emerging research topic of reversible audio watermarking, including recent research trends, unique features, and the potentials of this subdomain. Lastly, the joint consideration of audio watermarking and encryption is also reviewed. With the help of this concept, more secure audio watermarking systems can be developed, which meet the requirements for security and privacy in cloud-based networks and systems. Accordingly, the book serves as a tutorial suitable for readers with a general knowledge of audio signal processing as well as experts in related areas, helping these readers understand the basic principles and the latest advances, concepts and applications of audio watermarking.

We are happy to present to you the proceedings of the 2nd International Workshop on Digital Watermarking, IWDW 2003. Since its modern re-appearance in the academic community in the early 1990s, great progress has been made in understanding both the capabilities and the weaknesses of digital watermarking. On the theoretical side, we all are now well aware of the fact that digital waterma- ing is best viewed as a form of communication using side information. In the case of digital watermarking the side information in question is the document to be wat- marked. This insight has led to a better understanding of the limits of the capacity and robustness of digital watermarking algorithms. It has also led to new and improved watermarking algorithms, both in terms of capacity and imperceptibility. Similarly, the role of human perception, and models thereof, has been greatly enhanced in the study and design of digital watermarking algorithms and systems. On the practical side, applications of watermarking are not yet abundant. The original euphoria on the role of digital watermarking in copy protection and copyright prot- tion has not resulted in widespread usage in practical systems. With hindsight, a n- ber of reasons can be given for this lack of practical applications.

Digital audio, video, images, and documents are flying through cyberspace to their respective owners. Unfortunately, along the way, individuals may choose to intervene and take this content for themselves. Digital watermarking and steganography technology greatly reduces the instances of this by limiting or eliminating the ability of third parties to decipher the content that he has taken. The many techiniques of digital watermarking (embedding a code) and steganography (hiding information) continue to evolve as applications that necessitate them do the same. The authors of this second edition provide an update on the framework for applying these techniques that they provided researchers and professionals in the first well-received edition. Steganography and steganalysis (the art of detecting hidden information) have been added to a robust treatment of digital watermarking, as many in each field research and deal with the other. New material includes watermarking with side information, QIM, and dirty-paper codes. The revision and inclusion of new material by these influential authors has created a must-own book for anyone in this profession. This new edition now contains essential information on steganalysis and steganography New concepts and new applications including QIM introduced Digital watermark embedding is given a complete update with new processes and applications
