Much of the Sao Paulo cotton that is sold abroad is handled by firms that also export United States cotton. Thus, the cotton growing industry of the United States is vitally interested in developments in Brazil that have a bearing on the level of exports of Brazilian cotton. In order to appraise the situation, P. K. Norris, Cotton Specialist of this Office, went to Brazil to conduct a first-hand study of factors that may affect the levels of production and exports of Sao Paulo cotton.
