If the stream is to be used for water power, special efforts are made to Obtain information concerning the low - water flow. If water Is to be stored, the high waters are given special attention. In all sec tions certain permanent stations are maintained for general statistical purposes to Show the conditions which exist through long periods. They also act as primary stations, and are used in connection with short series of measurements to determine the flow in particular por tions Of the drainage basin.
