Excerpt from Harvard College, Class of 1891: Secretary's Report, No. 2 In looking over the report, about the only change over others is that I have combined special students, temporary members, and those who graduated with '90 the names will be found in italics throughout the report. I have dropped only those men who have not answered my circular and who have been identified with the Class of '90. Some of these, in a personal letter to me, have ex pressed this desire. If any of the others wish to be regarded as members of '91, they may write and I will reinstate them. One other member who graduated with '93 has, by special request, been also dropped. Any one who has been identified with the Class, and whose name does not appear in the index, will please communicate with me, and I shall be pleased to attend to the matter. Excerpt from Harvard College, Class of 1891: Secretary's Report, No; IV I promised you this report in June and true to my word, here it is. If it falls Short in any particular of your expectations I can only refer you to those who for various reasons have made it so. To you who have responded promptly and freely I give my thanks here; and to you who have made no response I simply say, Please do not do it again! Our fourth report, published fifteen years after gradu ation, shows many changes, not only in the personnel of the class, but in the growth of the college and univer sity. While we have been fortunate not to lose many classmates by death, we are unfortunate to lose any at all. Those who have gone will be missed and their places cannot be filled. As the years go by more of us will disappear and those who remain will always remem ber them with love and mourn them as old friends. It should be known that the families of these old time members have always a sincere regard for our Class and always Speak of it with genuine affection in memory of the kindly brotherly feeling always expressed at the time of their great sorrow. Excerpt from Massachusetts Crop Report, 1891 With this number commences the series of crop reports for the season of 1891. It is the intent to issue at least six monthly bulletins during the season. These bulletins are compiled from data received from selected correspondents in different parts of the State by means of blanks sent to them monthly. For this issue one hundred and sixty such blanks were sent out. Arrangements have also been made with weather observers in some seventeen localities in the State, and their data is received and compiled by an expert in such matters. The bulletins will be mailed as issued to those who have received them in past seasons and to any others who make application for them. It is believed this kind of work is of value to those engaged in agricultural pursuits, and every effort will be made to make it as valuable as possible. In the circular to correspondents returnable to this office May 28 the first question asked was, How does the present season compare, agriculturally speaking, with last season? Replies to this question were quite varied, and it is difficult to classify them. The general opinion seemed to be that the month of June this year opens under less favorable conditions, agriculturally speaking, than it did last year. The month of April was quite favorable. The month of May, 1890, was cool and wet, and several frosts occurred. This year May was decidedly cool and dry, with occasional frosts, which did considerable damage to fruit and early crops in many sections of the State.
