The collection contains subject files, committee records, administrative and student records from the plan of study program, and publications from the Office of the Dean of Undergraduate Studies.

Contains mostly incoming correspondence from prospective students, and Harvard College and Corporation officials among others. Also includes reports from committees on faculty, examinations, professorships, library, admission requirements, etc.; financial documents; faculty petitions; and lists of students. Subject files contain applications from prospective students, letters of recommendation, and material about admission of women and blacks.

This collection primarily contains materials following the split of the Office of the Dean of Arts, Sciences and Engineering into two separate offices. Some materials that were generated prior to the split were kept with the later materials in order to maintain their original order and context.

This collection contains correspondence, department files, administrative files, meeting minutes, reports and other materials that document the functioning of the Dean's Office of the College of Humanities.

Records document the administrative activities of the office, the student programs that it coordinated, and committee activities of the Dean of Women.

The records of the Office of the Dean of Students include correspondence regarding the searches for Directors of Residential Life and Student Activities (1987); Annual Reports (1929-1989); general records including correspondence, memos, announcements, news clippings (1943-1994); Cycles surveys (1976-1990); and a number of subject files. The annual reports cover the Office of Residential Life with information of statistics on dorms, including rooms, students, Head Resident changes, and student activities, consisting of information on student run groups such as the Student Government Association and events such as Winter Term.

The records of the Office of the Dean of the Faculty and Provost consist of announcements; memos; and reports (1928-1981). They provide information on a variety of matters, including academic advising; course enrollment statistics; examination regulations; tuition increases; scholarships; graduate students; Five College Information; Search Committee results; information about the responsibilities of the Academic Dean, the Dean of the Faculty and the amalgamation of the latter with the Provost. There are also annual reports from this office, covering the years 1927 to 1941, 1952 to 1973 and 1980-81. These primarily discuss academic changes and developments for the year of the report. Included are faculty evaluations and the records of departed faculty.
