Prospectives In Programing

Analyzes cognitive, social and technical issues of end user programming. Drawing on empirical research on existing end user systems, this text examines the importance of task-specific programming languages, visual application frameworks and collaborative work practices for end user computing.

The influx of computer technology into classrooms during the past decade raises the questions -- how can we teach children to use computers productively and what effect will learning to program computers have on them? The set of papers collected in this issue originated from the AGERE! Workshop series - the last edition was held in 2017 - and concern the application of actor-based approaches to mainstream application domains and the discussion of related issues. The issue is divided into two parts. The first part concerns Web Programming; Data-Intensive Parallel Programming; Mobile Computing; Self-Organizing Systems and the second part concerns Scheduling; Debugging; Communication and Coordination; Monitoring.
