Recently, the halal industry as a new innovation in Muslim and non-Muslim countries, this dynamic is combined with several studies and literacy, that the potential and challenges of the halal industry in the world can be realized along with technological advances. Indonesia, which is a country with the largest Muslim majority in the world, takes part in guarding and supervising the progress of the halal industry, whose benefits are widely enjoyed by people in the world.

InCEESS is an international conference hosted by Pelita Bangsa University. As an annual event, The 2nd International Conference on Islamic Studies (ICIS) 2020 continued the agenda to bring together researcher, academics, experts and professionals in examining selected theme by applying multidisciplinary approaches. In 2020, this event will be held in 27-28 October at IAIN Ponorogo. The conference from any kind of stakeholders related with Islamic Studies, Education, Political, Law and Social Related Studies. Each contributed paper was refereed before being accepted for publication. The double-blind peer reviewed was used in the paper selection.

This is an open access book. In the era of globalization and economic liberalization, the free trade applies and begins to be implemented, such as the Asian Economic Community (AEC), the inflow and outflow of food, beverage, drug and cosmetic products circulating in the world community is increasing rapidly. Indeed, the halal products circulated and traded cannot be confirmed so that they do not give a sense of peace, security, comfort, and are suitable for consumption by Muslim consumers. The circulation of various products on the market, both in the form of finished products and raw materials, especially those sourced from animals, either directly or derived from animals, has made it difficult for the Muslim community to trace the halalness of a product. People are also weak in understanding the ingredients and the production process of a food product. Thus, efforts to provide consumer protection, especially Muslim consumers, are very important and urgent. Therefore, it is the duty of the state to protect its citizens, according to the mandate of the constitution above. With this condition, the need for halal certification is getting stronger considering that Muslim consumers are increasingly critical and need certainty of the halalness of the food products they consume, both in terms of materials and production processes to packaging and distribution. For this reason, halal certification of food, beverage, drug and cosmetic products is very important. Halal certification is a necessity to provide certainty about the halalness of a product so that the rights and interests of Muslim consumers to carry out their religious sharia not to consume non-halal products will be guaranteed. This regulation on the protection of Muslim consumer rights has also been mandated in Law Number 18 of 2012 concerning Food. Furthermore, food safety, quality, nutrition and halal are the rights of Muslim consumers which are protected by law and become a government program in food development to meet the most important basic human needs and their fulfillment is part of the human rights of every Indonesian people.

The issue of overflowing landfills and environmental degradation caused by municipal solid waste is becoming increasingly pressing. Despite the importance of recycling, challenges such as contamination and the need for market demand for recycled materials persist. Addressing these challenges requires a comprehensive understanding of waste composition, innovative technologies, and effective policies. Municipal Solid Waste Management and Recycling Technologies serves as a solution, offering a deep dive into the complexities of municipal solid waste recycling and providing insights that can drive sustainable waste management practices. By delving into topics such as the role of education and awareness campaigns, technological advancements in waste sorting, and the economic aspects of recycling, this book equips readers with the knowledge needed to make a meaningful impact. It explores innovative recycling technologies, social and environmental implications, successful case studies, and strategies for reducing contamination in recycling processes. The 2nd International Conference of Business, Accounting, and Economics (ICBAE) 2020 continued the agenda to bring together researcher, academics, experts and professionals in examining selected theme by applying multidisciplinary approaches. This conference is the second intentional conference held by Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto and it is a bi-annual agenda of this faculty. In 2020, this event will be held in 5-6 August at Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto. The theme of the 2nd ICBAE UMP 2020 is “Economics Strength, Entrepreneurship, and Hospitality for Infinite Creativity Towards Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)”. It is expected that this event may offer contribution for both academics and practitioners to conduct researches related with Business, Accounting, and Economics Related Studies.
