Poetry As Revealed By The Holy Spirit

Shortly after I received Jesus as my Lord and Saviour, I received the baptism in THE HOLY GHOST. Spending much time reading my bible, seeking to know more, and more about GOD. (sometimes 16-18 hours a day) And this poetry is some of the revelations that I received.

Words are powerful. They have the ability to influence a change of heart and mind. They command attention and can build someone up or tear someone down. Life has its share of challenges all of which can be overcome. This thought-provoking testimony of poetry demonstrates just how much of an impact words can have on an individual's life. Up until now my lips have been filled With spoken words of written thoughts that were sealed Keeping them to myself apparently wasn't God's will So now, I am a poet exposed, I am a poet revealed.

"My Personal Journey With Jesus Revealed Through Poetry" includes my personal testimony along with poems I have written since 1999. My personal testimony is about how Jesus walked with me and carried me through the trials and tribulations of the past seventeen years. This includes my salvation experience, my personal encounters with Satan, my time spent in mental hospitals, two times when I could have died, the loss of family and friends, and also how God provided me with a new Christian family and friends who are helping me rebuild my life and showing me how to minister to others. The three sections of poems include personal journey poems, praise and worship poems, and poems about the end times. The reason I am telling my story and being so open and honest is because I want you to know that Jesus is real and that He will save you and walk with you for eternity if you only open up your heart to Him. My name is Brian Whitacre. I was born in 1973. As a child I enjoyed school and played sports, however I didn't know Jesus. My spiritual journey started in 1993. At the age of twenty I began attending a Pentecostal Church where I was drawn to Jesus by the power of love. On April 24, 1994, I got saved as God spoke these words to me "are you willing to give up your secular music for me?" I said yes and God also delivered me from my bad temper and cursing. However, right after I got saved, I came face to face with Satan. This encounter changed the course of my life forever. Because of this encounter I ended up in a maximum security mental hospital in Dayton, Ohio. Since 1994 I have spent many long hours in mental hospitals where Jesus proved He would never leave me.

With every great writer, there came an initial spark of inspiration. Often, this spark ignites a fire that has the potential of being a raging inferno. Such was the case of this book, From Glory to Glory, which took nearly four decades to write and compile. The initial spark came in 1967 and did not turn into a blazing fire until the year 2000. By then, the author realized that writing was a God-given talent and was a calling in his life. It was then that he fully embraced that truth. Listening to the still voice that was in him, Ken was led by the Holy Spirit to focus on writing poems that were inspired by God. He wanted to captivate the reader with poems that had meaning and purpose-ones that would lead people to the truth, and then the truth would set them free. The secret that Ken discovered was if you give God the glory, then everything turns out right because you have gained His favor. And after God's favor, come His blessings. Truth and transparency have been two important traits of Ken's DNA. He doesn't feel he has accomplished what he has set out to do until you have captured his essence. This is key. So many times we see people who deceive others by being untruthful and by walking in the shadows. Ken seeks to change that. He believes that the truth is the light. Chosen by God to spread His message of agape (godly and unconditional) love in the simplest and most direct way, Ken seeks to make a difference in this world by touching one person at a time. As you read this book, may you not only extract the message of each poem, but may you also feel his heartbeat for all mankind.

These poems are God's gift to me in my morning quiet time and I make of them a gift to you. I am so often amazed at the words that appear on the page as I write. I know these thoughts are not the ones I am used to living with day to day, and I worship God for His words revealed through me, a simple seeker who loves Him. In these pages you will hear God speaking to you. You will also hear me whining at God (seems like when my writing is all about me and my shortcomings, I must be whining). and there follows a section that is perhaps rhetorical, perhaps not. We can all gain from the words written here. May these simple and sometimes inconsistent thoughts bless you and draw you closer to Him.

One day, while watching a television show that featured the Rapper DMX, Reverend Claiborne Brown heard him quote a poem: "These are hands of a man that steals; these are hands of a man that kills; these are the hands of a man that does; now fold them, the hands of a man that was." The poem DMX quoted revealed how he lived his life on the streets, but Reverend Brown prayed and asked the Lord to bless him with a poem that would bless the world. And so the Lord blessed him with a poem called "Second Chance Prayer" Lord, as I kneel down to pray; I asked the Lord today, To give me a second chance to make it all the way. I know I have lied, and spoke many untruths, But, Lord give me a second chance to make it up to you. The Book of Love towards God presents a series of poems by Rev. Brown inspired by the Bible, intended to enlighten and uplift with the Holy Spirit's divine power.

Despite unfathomable emotional pain, betrayal by loved ones, and a vicious cycle of yearning for outwardly love and attention, healing of the heart is possible! This book is not just words penned to make someone feel good. Poetry from the Heart is a book of deeply personal expressions that reveal many of my life experiences and the deliberate obstacles that God allowed me to go through to heal myself and to help heal others. Some of the poems were directly inspired by the Holy Spirit. This is the first of several books God put in me. In the process of writing this book, I found answers to questions that I had for years. God told me years ago that I would write poetry and that it would get published in a book that would provide me with answers to many question I had. It would also open my eyes about why certain things happened in my life. As I wrote the poems, God allowed the mysteries to unfold. And just as He told me I would, I found the answers that blessed me. The poem Where is God When it Hurts? is the one that inspired me most and triggered the birthing of this book. I went through a vivid time in my life that the only way healing came was through writing what I was feeling. Out of the writings came Poetry from the Heart. For this I am so grateful. I pray that this book will be a blessing to every hand that holds it and every soul that receives it. May it bring wholeness and healing to every part of you and help to lay the foundation for discovering the answers to questions that you, too, have pondered in your heart and never shared with anyone. ...
