In No Bad Days, JT Jester shares his against-all-odds story of overcoming countless physical and learning challenges to help others find joy in any circumstance and understand that there are no bad days—only hard ones. By the time JT Jester was three years old, he had spent 250 days in the hospital, and he endured sixteen major surgeries before he was sixteen. Diagnosed with VATER/VACTERL Syndrome, a rare combination of several birth defects. JT’s life was anything but easy. On top of his physical challenges, he suffered dyslexia and short-term memory loss, which made learning nearly impossible for him. Yet JT pushed past his physical and educational roadblocks to achieve what many people told him he would never do—learn to read, graduate from high school, attend college, and become a successful motivational speaker, influential podcast host, and bestselling author. In No Bad Days, JT details the incredible story of how he overcame what seemed like insurmountable odds and shares the many invaluable lessons he has learned throughout his life in the hope that others might reach their full potential. These lessons include how to: Find Your Tribe, Pull Off the Label, Stretch Yourself, Listen to Others, and Learn to Fall. JT’s improbable life story is evidence that regardless of the mental and physical challenges you might face, you can defy the odds to create the life you want and accomplish the things you’ve only dreamed about. His remarkable journey is all the proof you need. Through his story, and the inspiring stories of others, JT Jester shows readers how to find joy in any circumstance and proves that there are really no bad days—only hard ones.

A light-hearted memoir from a music-loving lady of advanced years coping with the effects of MS and following the band BASTILLE. It shows the importance of the internet during the Covid lockdowns, from like-minded fans connecting with each other to remaining up-to-date with BASTILLE news and live 'living-room mini-shows.' It describes how some of her online friends became real friends in person when Covid eased off. Her good fortune to choose to follow a band well known for their upbeat songs about disasters (?) is noted. Her interactions with the lead singer, Dan Smith, were a surprise to everyone and we discover that the entire band are kind and generous to their fans and colleagues. Her trips around the UK for shows are recounted and found to be unexpectedly enriching her life, touched by the amount of kindness afforded to her by companions, fans and venue staff. Written primarily for fans of BASTILLE, it includes a puzzle challenge to find familiar song titles and lyrics within. The story may also chime with disabled concert goers with the pre-concert preparations required to gain tickets and also the logistics needed to attend. What particularly comes across is the affinity that developed between multi-aged fans over the course of two fun-filled years.

The title reflects two statements of my clients molded into a title, concluding with an offer to join me on my journey of social work. This book is based on real life. Nothing is fictional; nothing is hyped or tamed down. This book shares the joys and sorrows of social work and geriatrics. This book tells how the now deceased coach, professor, and social worker / coworker has affected me. This book tells the real life stories of my late Grandma and late Father. I asked in the reading of this book, either for pleasure, occupational developmental, and/or academic exercise that my readers and audiences not cherry-pick chapters or skip around. These chapters and the journeys told in the chapters build as the book progresses. I hope you will gain the purpose of this book--to become a rock star social worker, geriatric provider, or at least a rock star advocate.

For many, especially those on the political left, the 1950s are the "bad old days." The widely accepted list of what was allegedly wrong with that decade includes the Cold War, McCarthyism, racial segregation, self-satisfied prosperity, and empty materialism. The failings are coupled with ignoring poverty and other social problems, complacency, conformity, the suppression of women, and puritanical attitudes toward sex. In all, the conventional wisdom sees the decade as bland and boring, with commonly accepted people paralyzed with fear of war, Communism, or McCarthyism, or all three. Alan J. Levine, shows that the commonly accepted picture of the 1950s is flawed. It distorts a critical period of American history. That distortion seems to be dictated by an ideological agenda, including an emotional obsession with a sentimentalized version of the 1960s that in turn requires maintaining a particular, misleading view of the post-World War II era that preceded it. Levine argues that a critical view of the 1950s is embedded in an unwillingness to realistically evaluate the evolution of American society since the 1960s. Many--and not only liberals and those further to the left--desperately desire to avoid seeing, or admitting, just how badly many things have gone in the United States since the 1960s. Bad Old Days shows that the conventional view of the 1950s stands in opposition to the reality of the decade. Far from being the dismal prelude to a glorious period of progress, the postwar period of the late 1940s and 1950s was an era of unprecedented progress and prosperity. This era was then derailed by catastrophic political and economic misjudgments and a drastic shift in the national ethos that contributed nothing, or less than nothing, to a better world.
