Just who is this Saint Matthew anyway? To start with he was not called Mathew by Mark and Luke, he was called Levi. He was a tax collector and as I read I find him to be a bit of a stickler about exactness which would fit his occupation. He was also smart enough to be able to write shorthand which he did in Hebrew and I suspect this may be one of the reasons he was chosen by Christ to follow along on His journey.
