My Journey With Breast Cancer And Gods Miracles That Sustained Me

Cathy Suitor Riley decided to write this book during her treatments for bi-lateral breast cancer. It seemed to help to put her experiences on paper and she was hoping that her story would inspire and strengthen anyone that was going through any type of trial, not just breast cancer. It is obvious throughout this book that God was ever present during her journey and carried her when she couldn't carry herself. The faith that Cathy was taught during her childhood from the two Christian parents she was blessed with is what made all the difference in her life. She knows that without those teachings and lessons in faith she may have given up from the very first day of her diagnosis. Cathy had always said she didn't see how any woman could go through breast cancer because she would have to give up her hair and breasts, the two main things that make a woman feel feminine. It is obvious now that the way a woman gets through this is from the strength given to her by God. Only God can carry any of us through the trials we will face in this life, and there will always be trials as long as we live on this earth. It is this authors hope that this book will give you strength, hope, faith and the knowledge that your God is always with you and He is waiting for you to seek Him and depend on Him for everything. This journey was a continual walk of faith. I had believed in God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit even as a child. I had always prayed to God, asking to know him in a greater measure. However, trust in man had always been an issue for me after years of being hurt. Because of that distrust and insecurity, my heart had become hardened. I thought I did not need anyone—except God. My own life seemed to always be inferior and my last priority when compared to others. When I first discovered the lump, it was small. However, a few months later, it was massive. It was then I knew I could not fight this battle alone. During this journey, I would fight many battles with an enemy who was fighting to destroy me. There was a war within myself, trying to figure things out and spiritually what I believed the Bible said. I found out I was not alone. For when the enemy sought to destroy me, God had a better plan.

Author Violia Wilson found herself with breast cancer and while looking for information of the different treatments for cancer, she wondered, where is there a book to tell of someones exact experience? The Lord has been doing amazing things in my life and with a 2 and a 3 year old I get the worst news on a Sunday morning, that I have breast cancer. Fear sets in anger, frustration and discouragement. I feel weak sick to my stomach and just hopeless. Where is God in all this???? I have been dedicating my life to Jesus in serving others, sharing his word and living as a good servant,. Why I would ask God why would you allow this, I thought I was covered by Jesus protection how can this be happening to me. I have 2 kids who need me and I had already struggled to get pregnant now that I have kids I am sick? All I can do is cry hold my kids so tight and wish it was a bad dream. I prayed it could all go away. I knew that I had to make a decision to be a victim of this horrible disease or a conqueror in Jesus. I cling to the Lord and asked for strength and healing. I decided to meet Jesus and surrender to his will. Whatever he wants for me, the Lord is my savior and I am a living testimony of healing. We must claim his name and stand firm for he will deliver us in due time, for his word does not come back void. I pray this will touch your heart and encourage you to trust the Lord in whatever you are facing. He is faithful Father.

There are times we may wonder if our faith is enough. However, I found out that without my faith, my journey with cancer would have been so much more difficult. And to see how God worked during my journey was awesome, and my faith grew to greater heights. I suddenly realized that my story could help someone else who may be struggling with their faith or with their own journey. At the end of the day, I came to realize that God is always there for me and all those who believe in His name, Jesus Christ. It is a blessing to see how God is answering prayers even before we can say them. He knows our every need. The journey was not easy; there were times I couldn’t eat or could hardly get out of bed. I came to dread each week I had to go for treatment. I also knew that God would see me through. It took some time for me to recover from the emotional and physical scars of my cancer treatment. Trying to put my journey in writing was bittersweet. Reliving each day of my treatment was painful, and at the same time, I was overwhelmed with joy of God’s goodness and mercy. God had delivered me from cancer and brought me through one of the most difficult times of my life.

People Cynthia encountered on her breast cancer journey profoundly changed her perspective on life. They were varied ages and came from different circumstances, but the common thread they had was the fear when hearing the word cancer. Often she was a reluctant participant during her walk, knowing she had no choice if she intended to win her battle. She encouraged others with her smile, positive attitude, words, and actions.
