The text highlights the importance of promoting health throughout the lifespan, the influence of intergenerational health, and the concept of the Developmental Origins of Health and Disease in epigenetic processes and embryology. Since publishing The Practical Playbook II, there has been growing recognition of increased maternal deaths and poor maternal health outcomes disproportionately impacting Black, Indigenous, People of Color in the United States. Practitioners are often unaware or unequipped to understand the inequities faced by historically marginalized populations in maternal health care. The Practical Playbook III is a guide for researchers, community activists, and advocates of maternal health offering practical tools and strategies to improve inequities in maternal health. Women's Journey to Empowerment in the 21st Century offers a global view into the patriarchal attitudes that shape cultural practices that oppress women and continue to take form in the modern era. This open access book examines health trajectories and health transitions at different stages of the life course, including childhood, adulthood and later life. It provides findings that assess the role of biological and social transitions on health status over time. The developmental and life-course perspective in criminology came to prominence during the late 1980s and throughout the 1990s a number of theories were developed to explain offending behavior over the life-course. This volume brings together theoretical statements, empirical tests and debates of these major theories within the developmental and life-course criminology perspective.
