Moose Lake Past & Present tells the story of the Moose Lake area, located in Sawyer County in the state of Wisconsin, twenty-five miles from the city of Hayward. The land was covered with virgin pine trees until the lumbering boom began in the late 1870s. After the trees were gone, farming became the source of income. When that proved too difficult in the sandy soil, the resort era began. Today Moose Lake is still a tourist attraction with cabin rentals in the summer and snowmobiling in the winter.
