Miscellaneous Leaflets Concerning Jews And Jewish History

Collection consists of miscellaneous items including pamphlets and typescript copies of articles (some translations) of materials regarding Jewish persons and Jewish history locally bound together.

The Sofer Collection contains resources on the formation of the Mishnah, the Talmud, and other Midrashic literature. Additionally, there are works about and by notable Rabbis such as Rashi, Ibn Ezra, Maimonides, and the Ramban. Alongside the religion and catalog sections, the historical section is one of the largest in the Collection. The Collection features books on Jewish history from the medieval times to the World War II era. While most of the historical works focus on Europe and Palestine, there is a diversity of countries represented in the Collection. The Collection rounds out its record of Jewish culture with books depicting synagogues, Judaica, and various artistic and literary works related to Jewish faith and culture. The Collection includes numerous catalogs from various auction houses and collections, including prominent organizations like Sotheby's, Christie's, Judaica Jerusalem, and Kedem, as well as inventories of museum exhibits and private collections. The miscellaneous pamphlets represent ephemera from the overall Sofer Collection and may represent any of the topics described above.
