Mirror Nigeria Weeps

The Mirror publication is delivered throughout the year at no charge to friends and supporters of Aid to the Church in Need. It offers inspiring stories of change as well as highlighting the many injustices faced by Christians around the world. The Mirror also serves as a tool of evangelisation. It inspires prayer and includes thought-provoking articles to help elevate the reader’s hearts and minds towards God the Father Almighty and towards their less fortunate brothers and sisters in Christ. For those who read my last book CRAZY MISTAKES WE PASTORS MAKE, they will probably be surprised I made more mistakes! Darkness has one major advantage; it reminds us of the beauty of light. In my humble experience as a trainer and spiritual mentor, I discovered, success is the quickest way to failure if not properly managed. Coming from the position of leadership, one has discovered, a lot of times, it is an untitled man God depends upon to make an impact upon men. Kings, business leaders and pastors already have a high standard to live up to and that is where many times, they fail. I have stumbled many times myself, but in the words of a man, the harder a leader falls, the higher the bounce. Many of us as Gods leaders and servants have contributed immensely to misrepresenting the faith and ignoring the grace we have been given to mentor souls. Yes, we dont go out all the way to commit errors but overtly or covertly, we may end up causing a lot of pains and upset to the ones we are called to lead. Our motives may be right but sometimes our strategies need a revisit. My motivation for penning this satirical but insightful book comes from discussions I had with a backslidden Christian believer who has turned to the Bahai faith and a Pentecostal preacher who left his calling for a secular post. In their many disappointments and pains, I found myself. I am hoping to reach some leaders whose vision may be blurring and trust Jesus, some children of God will learn from my experiences. In this collection of scholarly essays on the works of Ngugi wa Thiong’o, one of the most important postcolonial writers alive, the contributors adopt a range of reading approaches and analytical models like feminism, postcolonialism, historicism, formalism, and psychoanalysis, to excavate new meanings and provide fresh insights into Ngugi’s artistic oeuvre. Through some robust and engaging scholarly discourses, the volume animates the politics, poetics, and artistic vision of Ngugi wa Thiong’o, as well as his commitment to the enterprise of decolonisation. The comprehensiveness of this collection is partly illustrated by the fact that it addresses a range of diverse issues in all of Ngugi’s novels, most of his plays, and some of his scholarly works. To this end, the volume is a valuable addition to the body of literature on Ngugi’s works and an important resource material to students, teachers, and researchers of African literature.
