Download In Memory of the Good Old Days Book in PDF, Epub and Kindle
In Memory of the Good Old Days presents the inspiring memoir of Robert Lot King. After his birth in southern Indiana, he grew up mostly in rural areas and small towns. He was educated in a one-room schoolhouse with different grades in different rows. He completed his course of study to become a minister at Kentucky Mountain Bible Institute and was ordained in the Church of the Nazarene. He spent most of his life as a pastor preaching the gospel. His memoir, presented in five parts, begins with his childhood years in the early forties, during World War II. From his near death experience at two from pin worm to the memories of his childhood in Indiana, he captures the essence of times gone but not forgotten. Part two explores the trials and victories of his journey as a preacher in the mountains of eastern Kentucky. In part three, he recalls leaving the mountains and returning to Indiana with his wife and partner in ministry. Finally, in parts four and five, he explores creation and offers proof of a living God and inspirational messages about the Christian faith. In Memory of the Good Old Days offers inspiring messages on faith and hope interspersed with tales of a life well lived.

The British Lawnmower Museum, Keith Harding's World of Mechanical Music and Mad Jack's Sugar Loaf. In a world of theme parks, interactive exhibits, over-priced merchandise and queues, don't worry, these are names to stir the soul. Reassuring evidence that there's still somewhere to turn in search of the small, fascinating, unique and, dammit, British. In a stumbling journey across the country in search of the best we have to offer our intrepid heroes discovered dinosaurs in South London, a cold war castle in Essex, grown men pretending to be warships in Scarborough, unexplained tunnels under Liverpool and a terraced house in Bedford being kept warm for Jesus's return. And along the way they met the people behind them all: enthusiasts, eccentrics and, you know, those who just sort of fell into looking after a vast collection of gnomes ... Makes you proud!

When things go wrong as they sometimes will, When the road you're trudging seems all uphill, When the funds are low and the debts are highAnd you want to smile, but you have to sigh, When care is pressing you down a bit, Rest, if you must, but don't you quit.Times were tough, but we made it through. These were times when people depended on one another, when they learned to take nothing for granted, and to recognize those things that were more important than the luxuries money could buy.

I was broken, shattered and everything was taken away from me. I had no choice but to give up. Give up on everything. Give up on myself. Every time I tried to move on, the strings in my life pull me back so strong that neither could I move an inch from where I was nor could I break those strings. Why did they do this to me? How could they do this to me? I lost everything. I LOST MYSELF! Why am I living? For what? For whom? I stood there in front of the bathroom mirror tapping my fingers on the basin, thinking that my strings would pull me back any moment but something made me feel they weren’t gonna pull me this time and for the last time I looked into the mirror ‘INTO THE MIRROR’ to see myself but what I saw was all the terrible things that happened in my life, every possible reason why I could end my life right now. I closed my eyes and all I could remember was the 21 good old days in my miserable life...
