Their German ancestry is included and, in many cases, exactly where they settled in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Maryland, and the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia.

This book is a collection and rewrite of a series of articles which appeared in the Bulletin of the New York Public Library during 1916-1922.
