It´s all inside The Crossroads. CUSTOMER REVIEWS - An Open Forum Number of Reviews: 1 Average Rating: 4 stars Brenda, November 25, 2002, Great, Entertaining and Easy Reading Book! I was truly surprised at the quality of this book. The stories were wonderfully varied. The author has a tremendously entertaining cast of characters, and a very easy reading book. Some of the stories left me stunned. Theyleft me wondering about all the decisions I had made in my life. He also left me with a nice feeling of hope. Durst has a great mix of humor, sadness, hope and happiness in his stories. The book isn´t written for little children but it isn´t written only for geniuses either. Not all of the stories are appropriate for children so keep that in mind if you buy it but I found that the ones like ´The Goal, Survivor´s Club, Apocalypse, Judgment Day, The Old Zion Cemetary and Candy Bars´were great for me and my kids.´ I´d highly recommend it. He divides the book up with a small section of prose. At first I didn´t think that was a smart thing to do but now having read it twice, I like it and I find I like his prose as well. I look forward to his next book. ****(4 Stars)from Amazon.com. Heartwarming and Inspirational, December 2, 2002 Reviewer: Pat Dunn from Towaco, NJ USA If you are looking for a book that will make you both laugh and cry at the same time, this is the book for you. Based on true stories and poetry from the author´s own life, as well as his keen imagination, this book will please everyone in one way or another. It is a tribute to a man who proves that one can succeed against all odds, by following this simple rule in life... You can do anything you want as long as you are willing to accept the consequences for your actions. Excerpt of Full Page Interview with The Litchfield County Times, January 10, 2003. Written by Asa Fitch, Photographed by A. R. Verano "That any choice is valid as long as one is willing to face the consequences is the simple message of "The Crossroads," the first book of fiction by New Milford resident, J. E. Durst. The message isn´t presented as a moral-it is too open-ended to be called prescriptive-but as a logical guide to life. When people come to crossroads, they must choose a direction and then deal with the results...."

The first time she laid eyes on him, she knew he was the one. With his dashing smile, swaggering confidence, and undeniable charms, his ability to sweep women off their feet (in a very literal sense) was legendary. This small town girl didn't stand a chance when it came to his immense... charms. He was fully aware of his ability to sweet talk the pants off anyone of the female persuasion. He was looking for a good time and boy, did he get it. After all, small town life can get pretty redundant without just a little extra-curricular activity. However, little did he know that when they consummated their attraction, he'd unleash a vortex of crazy unlike anything his considerable imagination could have dreamed. Worse yet, their union birthed one of the most unholy cities this side of the mighty Mississippi. Some say Crossroads is cursed. Others allege that tiny Minnesota town is simply unlucky. Then there are those who celebrate its misfortune, claiming all the bad press is exaggerated, a means of keeping out the riff raff. Truth is, Crossroads was born in blood. Baptized in hate. But, is it cursed? Just avoid basements and do NOT order any dish containing lamb...

Thinkers and activists from many orientations and traditions are now coming together to explore ways to reconstitute rites of passage as a form of community healing for our public and personal ills. Crossroads is a comprehensive collection of over fifty cutting-edge writings on diverse aspects of the transition to adulthood. "In no uncertain terms, Crossroads opens our eyes to our responsibility to the adolescents who are now growing up without sacred rituals and hence without knowledge of spiritual roots in their culture. Many of the writers have first-hand experience and first-rate ideas of how to transform this cultural crisis. Crossroads also challenges us to integrate our own inner adolescent. Piercing insight with realistic hope " -- Marlon Woodman The Ravaged Bridegroom
