Letter From William Mount Temple London To John Ruskin 1864 January

Apologizing that he cannot be of much help in securing a post in government for Charles Bradford, but he will pass his name along though "...not likely I fear to lead to Madrid;" expressing his hope that they he will see him in London.

Letters written to Hunt's friend Ruskin from various locations in London (Campden Hill, Kensington, and Fulham, consecutively). In the first letter (1864), Hunt describes why he is not persuaded to join the religious following of a man named Monk. In the second letter (1880 November 6), Hunt describes the evolution of his religious beliefs, the strong influence that Ruskin's writings have had on him, and his hopes of yet doing work as a painter which will "make my acknowledgement of your good influence on me not seem idle mockery." In the third letter (1882), Hunt reaffirms his appreciation of Ruskin, and proposes a day for Ruskin to visit him in his studio in Chelsea.
