En el aprendizaje de lenguas en tándem dos personas con lenguas maternas diferentes colaboran para mejorar sus destrezas comunicativas y ampliar sus conocimientos socioculturales. Este libro recoge las principales claves teóricas de dicho modelo de aprendizaje, incluyendo consideraciones sobre los principios que lo rigen, las estrategias que le son de aplicación y la eficacia de su uso. Los artículos aquí recopilados proporcionan, además, consejos prácticos que pueden servir de ayuda a los interesados en acercarse a las características de este método, ya sea desde una perspectiva investigadora o con el deseo de organizar experiencias de aprendizaje autónomo similares.

This book provides a comprehensive critical account of tandem learning, charting it evolution from its origins in European educational settings to modern programs offering new perspectives on the approach’s role within higher education. Taking stock of the ways in which increased globalization has produced new linguistic and sociocultural realities, the volume begins by looking back at the development of tandem learning over the last several decades, growing out of a need to create more opportunities for L2 learners to communicate in their target language. The book then examines the different learning objectives and learning outcomes of tandem learning arrangements, moving toward a discussion of tandem learning’s potential role in shaping language policy and the unique challenges involved in implementing tandem programs at higher education institutions. The final section of the book brings the previous discussions together to consider new tools and technology and the ways in which they can better equip language educators to implement tandem learning in their own practice. Resumen: El presente estudio describe el impacto de la enseñanza de estrategias de aprendizaje de lenguas enfocadas en las habilidades de lectura y escritura del inglés en la autonomía del estudiante, en grado octavo en un colegio público de Pereira. Este estudio incluye temas como autonomía, estrategias de aprendizaje del lenguaje del lenguaje, motivación, rol del profesor y el rol de L1 y L2. Esta investigación fue hecha basada en dos preguntas. ¿Cuál es el impacto de enseñar estrategias de aprendizaje en la autonomía del aprendiz? Y ¿Cuáles son las reacciones de los estudiantes hacia la enseñanza de estrategias de aprendizaje? Estas preguntas fueron contestadas a través del uso de diferentes métodos de recolección de información como entrevistas realizadas al profesor y a los participantes, observaciones de clase y grabación de videos de algunas actividades. Uno de los resultados reveló cómo la autonomía fue reflejada en los aprendices después del uso de estrategias de aprendizaje del lenguaje, tanto las estrategias que afectaron el aprendizaje autónomo en una manera positiva como las que no tuvieron un buen impacto en los estudiantes. Otro resultado reflejó la importancia del rol del profesor para integrar a los estudiantes en el uso de las estrategias de aprendizaje del lenguaje, en el cual se manifestó que los métodos usados por el profesor juegan un papel importante en el momento de integrar y motivar a los estudiantes en el proceso de aprendizaje.
