Ecologia Del Paisaje

La ecología del paisaje es una disciplina independiente, surgida en los años treinta del pasado siglo. Este volumen ilustra la historia de dicha disciplina, desde sus orígenes hasta sus innovaciones más recientes. Asimismo, el autor apuesta por integrar el estudio del paisaje y la dimensión humana dentro de un amplio ecosistema teórico. El libro combina el recorrido historiográfico, el análisis de las principales aportaciones de las ciencias ecológicas y la rigurosa interpretación de la complejidad ambiental. Almo Farina es profesor asociado de Ecología de la Facultad de Ciencias Ambientales de la Universidad de Urbino. Ha publicado, entre otros libros, Principles and Methods in Landscape Ecology (1998) y Landscape Ecology in Action (2000).

This volume focuses on the close relationship between geomorphology and environmental impact assessment, and provides a wide-ranging overview of this topic. It includes several case studies covering a variety of environmental impacts derived from human activities (quarrying, communication infrastructure etc.) on different geomorphologic components (landforms, soil, landscapes etc.) and environments (glacial, fluvial, coastal etc.) The case studies presented offer a methodological guide from the most traditional geomorphological approaches through to the use of spatial data analysis and GIS tools and techniques. Environmental Impact Assessment is a relatively new scientific branch in which a wide variety of specialists are increasingly becoming involved. This book has emerged as a consequence of the difficulties we experienced in finding information when we first started researching. The goal was to produce a book where as many existing studies as possible could be presented in a single volume, making it easy for the reader to compare methods, results and conclusions. As a result, studies from countries such as Thailand, Spain, Sweden, Lithuania, Czech, Mexico, etc. have been brought together as individual chapters, and references to studies from other countries have been included in the overview chapters where possible. We believe that this opportunity to compare results from different countries will open a new perspective on the subject, allowing the typical characteristics of Organic Agriculture and Organic Food to be seen more clearly.
