Dragon Of Wantley

This wonderfully humourous tale for all ages is the legend of a dragon-slaying by a knight on Wharncliffe Crags in South Yorkshire. This novel adaptation is based on a comic broadside ballad written in 1685. This novel was originally published in 1892 and written by Owen Wister. This classic works is republished with a new introductory biography of the author.

Sir Godfrey first learns of the dragon when his wine disappears and, as if that were not enough, is then reminded of the local legend that suggests that his daughter Elaine must meet the beast in combat.
